Yes, you are right. Fortunately my garage found free lift this morning and I changed U-joint successfully. Maybe a hint for DIYers - at first I tried to disassemble U-joints using hydraulic press, but it was pain in the arse to assemble jig/holders for the shaft to press it properly. But still it wa...

Dipstick is on the passenger side of the engine and is held down with a 10MM head bolt. Vehicle at normal operating temperature, in Park or Neutral, on a level surface. Check the dipstick just like you would on most other automatic transmission vehicles. MIN and MAX lines or equivalent on the dipst...

Theoretically it could be a situation, when you have in 4HI, driving pavement and quite different profile on at least one tire. The difference between new and worn out tire might be up to 6 tire revolutions per mile! This can put some stress to LSD on back and transfer box if in 4HI. Although it is ...

Yes, perfectly normal. A/C compressor soaks some 2-5 horse power, which engine needs to feed by slightly increasing gas from low idle to slightly higher idle.

May I remove rear drive shaft?

Hi, I need to replace both U-joints on rear driveshaft, but I do not have lift available for more than one hour at a time in one go. When I replaced front drive shaft U-joints it was simple: - I removed whole driveshaft - vehicle was driveable and I used it without front driveshaft - then I replaced...

According to your description, it really looks like torque converter does not release it enough at idle speed. I would check ATF level very precisely - I found mine is very picky about level. Even 1/5 quart over the max level worsens shifting noticeably. Had to pull some ATF out to be just below max...

Might be it swallowed a big bubble of air when you drained it, so it had to digest it. I bet it's just one-time issue.

I had similar ticking sound, like crickets, so I took one loooong screwdriver, carefully put its tip on alternator, belt tensioner and other parts while listening on screwdriver's holder with my ear.
In my case it was alternator pulley, 200 bucks repair cost.

Squeezing-the-cat weird roar

Hi guyz, last week I went some offroading and at one steep incline needed to reverse. The departure angle was so sharp, that I shoveled the ground with exhaust tip, broke it...and also now I have this weird "miauu" squeezing sound when I hit the gas: Short video with sound here We've tried...

Hmmm...this is very unclear in service manual, too. I cannot find the location of Throttle Position Sensor being clearly marked in whole service manula for YD25 engine. The trouble code itself is mentioned in "A/T transmission" section which bothers me. The only piece of hardware which loo...

I use a very long screwdriver or a long metal rod on wooden handle to pinpoint rattle source. For example, with metal part of loooong screwdriver touch the alternator and lean your ear on the handle. You will hear the noise the inner parts of alternator produce very clearly. So you can (carefully, n...

AFAIK Pathfinder uses BLUE coolant, but have read about OEM installs with GREEN, too. Also users and manuals report no issued mixing the two, except of shortened life of coolant itself.

From your picture I guess you have BLUE one inside, so I would stick with that color.

I would suggest EXTREME CAUTION when filling coolant directly to radiator with WARM engine!!! You can easily crack the radiator due to temperature difference if you sip cold coolant into warm radiator! So either pre-heat cooalant before using it for such a purpose (for example, put coolant bottle in...

If it is clicking sound, then possibly CV-joint. But if it is more like harsh turning on tarmac, kinda resistence when you hard turn, then it must be central diff locked. Most noticeable it is when you full turn from start (say from parking lot) and vehicle like does not want to go easily....then ju...

It was driveshaft U-Joint, bad and totally seized. :/

After 3rd U-joint replaced, I become master. Now until I forget, I can replace one in 30 minutes, hehe :)
