Re: Rear End Feels Unstable

These trucks are chronically undersprung in the rear. I used to run 5-10 psi in my Airlift bags, but the real final solution is Moog springs. They are what the truck should have come with stock; match the front spring rate and are negligible lift, maybe half an inch. I put new Airlift springs in but...

Re: Paint repair under the roof rail!

I'll get back to this soon - I have a backlog of things I need to do on the truck and the motorcycle. That repair is watertight and won't rust through the roof, which is the most important thing. But there's a ding on my fender from a Whistler trip that must be filled and repaired soon. Would say on...

Re: Has anyone done 4600 Bilstein front and rear?

Rear springs are too soft. My truck drove like garbage until I put Airlift bags in (5-8 psi with no load), and later Moog medium springs (negligble lift, but balanced front to back spring rate). Every time the rear end of the truck hit bumps it unsettled the front. This was a much bigger improvement...

Re: Paint repair under the roof rail!

So the lighter shade problem bothered me too much. Just tried a bigger 0.5mm nozzle to see if that would fix whatever was happening with metallic flake separation. Test painting worked, so I should be able to touch up everything on my truck accurately from here on out! https://hosting.photobucket.co...

Re: Paint repair under the roof rail!

So all done. Good news, my Iwata airbrush can push auto touchup paint and clear coat at 1:1 paint to thinner. Bad news, for some reason, when painting the roof (a horizontal surface) the color comes out a lighter blue. No idea why, I asked the company and they are contemplating it. It brushes on exa...

Re: Paint repair under the roof rail!

I couldn't get the base coat as flat as I'd hoped with brushes, so I am waiting until tomorrow when I get some replacement parts for my compressor. Should look great in the end though...

Paint repair under the roof rail!

Here's what I'm working on today. A rust bubble formed under the right side roof rail foundation at the front. Water pools under these things (FYI). There is a single rubber gasket you see at the bottom of it which the bolts should seat into, but over time, water got through the paint on the forward...

Along the top of the firewall, and it goes down on the passenger side towards the pipes that carry coolant to the rear passenger heater core.

Re: Oil leak = Tune Up Time

I think you "can" do just the valve cover gaskets, but the plastic warps over time. I believe most people replace the whole thing.

Mine were leaking really badly when I replaced them. Like enough to where the engine was low on oil at the next oil change.

Re: Z1 Off Road Products

These two things don't require a dyno tune. Goes in and goes out don't change so its "within the bandwidth" of the existing ECU. My $0.02 - I think the spacer provides more volume right above the intake, so there's less of a vacuum increase during throttle transients, and the ECU doesn't s...

Re: VVT Cover - anyone know the correct seals for it

I have checked the oil pressure at idle and warmed up -- it's 16 psi, which is within spec. Timing is also in spec .5 both banks with no voltage to vat solenoid at idle. You mention that seal is lathe cut, where I remember the seal I installed was rounded, which makes it even more suspect to me. So...

Re: SIEMED Fog Lights - I like them

I had the Xtremevisions as well. It's not possible that they put out twice the light as claimed, but I do like the mix of white (blue filter) light for looks plus yellowish 4300K light for total visibility. My high beams are really good with the LEDs, that element is also in the right place, unlike ...

Re: SIEMED Fog Lights - I like them

I didn't realize what @Neeginan was showing us before. I just got a set, will put them in sometime in the next few days. Took the opportunity to try the Katana LED headlight bulbs that everyone loves on clubfrontier. My last attempt at LEDs was about five years ago and the LED placement was in the w...

Re: 2006 PF LE Engine Swap - Am I Crazy?

While your Pathfinder is an 05 so you dont have the longer nose of the 08+ that had been lengthened to accommodate the V8 option, I wonder if a V8 swap isnt still possible for you. Just a facelift, didn't lengthen the engine bay. Same radiator, etc. in the front for V-6 and V-8, but as SMJ points o...
