i have an 05 4x4. On trips from RI to NJ 256mi one way i used to get best gas mileage at 60MPH-65MPH....and would be able to break the 25MPG barrier. Of course the speed limit was 65 and everyone else was doing 75+ so you would get a lot of dirty looks

they are older 81,000 original miles with good tread left but maybe that is the issue. It almost a grinding sound of resistance when you go from a stop to 5mph

i have 81,000 miles. Just redid ALL u joints 5k miles ago. I just recently started getting a "feeling" of resistance/ friction and a whirling noise at low speed and high speed. You can hear it die down when coming to a stop. I had the fan clutch replaced last year. Dont think that is it. A...

I just made the appt at my dealer. I asked if they will use the updated parts. The service manager said yes. Is there anything I should ask or do to make sure they use the correct updated parts? Have the shoes/ tensioners been replaced and are no longer in circulation type thing

I'm almost thinking the sound has something to do with wheel bearings but not sure..i'll keep an ear to it and see if the sounds gets progressively worse

i figured that was a crazy amount of miles. The side walls are starting to get a tiny bit dry rotted and cracked

good point about the tires....they are still original general grabbers with 80,500 but still in decent shape with decent tread left...no abnormal wear that i can think of
