Re: GSP struts?

IMHO, FCS isn’t bad at the price point. They do the job just fine unless you’re towing or hauling heavy stuff.

I just put FCS shocks in the back a few days ago and they’re pretty decent especially given how cheap they were.

Never heard of GSP though…

Re: Help removing rear shock bolts

I tried the cheap sawzall with some Dewalt 16tpi blades from Lowe’s. No dice. Got my neighbor to come help me with his Metabo and we were able to knock that sucker out in little over an hour. Gotta admit, without the Metabo I would have been in stuck with figuring out how to split the bolt head off ...

Re: Help removing rear shock bolts

Yikes! I really want to avoid making this project any bigger. I’ve made some progress with the hacksaw on one side of the bushing. My thought is to cut that end off (very very slowly I know). Still can’t figure out how to get the sawzall on there without damaging the frame. Next question is: how do ...

Re: Help removing rear shock bolts

Yikes, this is what I was afraid of. I’m struggling with getting the upper bolt off on the passenger side. It’s really narrow access and has the fuel line and fuel tank right behind. I used a hack saw blade to take the shock off to get some more room. 2.5 hours of my life gone.. I don’t think I can ...

Help removing rear shock bolts

Looking for some help with how to remove some severely rusted on rear shock bolts on the Pathy. Dousing in PB Blaster and using a 14” cheater pipe on the 1/2” Stanley ratchet well broke the ratchet. I tried to use my cheap impact from HF on the lower bolt on either sides. You guessed it, nothing. So...

Thanks Palmer. I had a brain fart and didn’t take the before pictures, oh well.
Here are some after pictures that I took:

Re: Rocker rust

Got done with this finally, whew! I think got most areas covered. There are some areas of the rear sub frame which were too tight for me to be able to reach and those remain as is and the portion of the frame rails within the engine bay didn’t get touched either. I got a can each of Fluid Film on ea...

Re: Rocker rust

Sorry, it’s been a while since I posted here. Took the car on a 3,500 miles trip. She did great, except the rear muffler fell off and I had to get a shop in the nearest town fix it. So now she rides with a bottle muffler in the back. In addition, the aftermarket fan clutch failed and was constantly ...

Re: Rocker rust

Totally agree! Our generation of Pathfinders were the last of the best imo and an absolute steal when it comes to value proposition especially compared to 4Runners. On the POR-15 point, I’m not super sure either on the best way to apply. They sell a neutralizer which from what I understand almost se...

Re: Rocker rust

Alright, perfect. I’ll just go with POR-15 and their prep kit. I honestly don’t know what to do about the rockers. My thoughts was I could get some of the POR-15 on the under/backside to slow it down. And on the front face, I was going to hit it well with a wire brush, tape it around and then again ...

Re: Rocker rust

Got it, thanks a bunch! I called around most body shops around here and they won’t work on rust cars. Seems like most of them only want to work on insurance/collisions vehicles, bummer! I just spend $1400 getting the AC fixed (compressor was completely frozen and needed a new condenser). My current ...

Re: Rocker rust

Thanks both! Oddly, it’s a little reassuring that others here have the same issue  @palmerwmd: I didn’t know about the naval jelly. I’ll definitely pick up a can from the local advance auto (I’m with you, I try to support the local stores as much as I can vs. giving in to Amazon). Is it the...

Rocker rust

Can someone please advise on what would be the best way to fix/slow down this rust?
It’s on both sides by the front doors.

Re: Heated steering wheel install

Winter is here in full effect and I admittedly kinda gave up on this till I got the whole radiator/fan clutch project done and completed. But with the cold mornings, I’m back wondering on the logistics of this. 1. Removing the steering wheel is documented online so I get that. 2. Removal of the cloc...
