Interesting indeed. I find Nissan's decision odd to leave the Auto mode out of the Silver Edition when it was placed above the SV in terms of trim levels.

Good to note. Ill take a look at the heater hose connections again to verify there’s no coolant leaking. The green coolant interestingly was what was put in by the Nissan dealership based on the records I got with the vehicle. Interestingly, the local Infiniti dealership also said they would just ...

That’s what I understood as well. My original intent was to look for a LE, the most important feature being the Auto mode. The others while nice were things I was willing to forego. But the fact that this Silver Edition popped up so close to home made it a deal not worth missing. Oh well. So far, ...

Interesting. I’m fine with signing a waiver if they want me to. I’m basically having them take the season old winter tires off the rims of my old QX4 and having them put them on a set of 16†rims from a base S R51. My online research indicates that QX4 rims were also 7†wide. I’ll post pictu...

New owner here and I’m not sure if I should start another thread or add my concerns here. My 2011 Silver Edition has 99k miles on it. Haven’t seen any evidence of SMOD on it, anti freeze is excellent green (knock on wood). My vehicle had the trans cooler on the drivers side ahead of the AC conde...

It indeed is! I got a chance to take it on a long drive yesterday, about 180 miles round trip.
Ran flawlessly. The only thing I noticed was the sweet smell of anti freeze when I got back home after turning the car off. I’ll post a separate thread about with some questions.

So I ended up buying a 2011 Slate Grey silver edition Pathy with pretty decent service records. The only downside is the typical Midwest/rust belt bubbling on the rear fenders. I’m assuming this is a fix for the body shop? Outside of that, really pleased with the R51. I guess if I had to have a gr...

Thanks for the welcome!! That is indeed a good deal on the 08, but I’m starting my search with the ones that are in the Mid West, closer to me. Good to note on the SMOD. If I end up buying a R51, I’ll definitely end up doing the cooler bypass. I was hoping to re-use the 225/75/16 snow tires tha...

Thanks for your responses both. The reason for those tires is because they are only 5,000 miles old off my R50. They are currently mounted on 16†rims off a 2001 QX4. My plan is to find OE 16†rims off a R51 and then just mount my tires on these said R51 rims. How do I compare the rim width differ...

R51 - downsizing to 16" for winter rims

Has anyone here downsized from 18" (LE/silver edition) to 16" (S) rims? If so, has anyone run 225/75/16 tires? I was looking online and it looks like the S variants came with 245/75/16 and given that I will be running these in the winter, I think the skinnier tires would be just fine? Were...

1) I was hoping to re-use the 225/75/16 snow tires that I already have :) Will these be fine? 2) Additionally, I see that the Silver editions are similar to LE, but most importantly they lack the full time 4Wd “auto†mode. Can anyone comment here if that is a useful feature? On my QX4, I just se...

Out of curiosity, for those who don't have the Auto mode i.e. the silver edition and SV vehicles, do you guys simply put the vehicle in "4H" during the winter months even if you're driving on the freeway? I live in the Great Lakes region and there is always snow for about 5 months....

Considering replacing by 2002 R50 with a '08/'09 R51

My first post here. I am a member on another Nissan forum on the WWW. But there aren't a lot of active members over on the R51 sub-page. So looking for some advice here. My 2002 QX4 has been an excellent vehicle over the past few years I have owned her. But with 196k miles on the ODO, age related is...
