It was several years ago, so I don't quite remember. I think it was before I had my radiator replaced for a leak, so I think I just added to the overflow.
There was another occasion when I did "burp" the coolant system, but I don't think it was at the same time.

I've actually experienced your problem with heat not blowing warm until starting to drive. Turned out to be low coolant, so adding some to the tank solved that one.

AC not really working when stopped

Really hot & humid yesterday. AC was working fine while driving. Then I hit a highway with frequent traffic lights, and I noticed that when stopped the vent air was getting warm & humid. Once I started moving again, the air would cool down. When I got home, I let the truck run in drive and p...

Blower motor removal question

My heat/AC blower is pretty loud on higher settings - especially in recirc mode.
Does the glove box need to be removed to access & inspect the blower motor or can it be done from underneath?

I've been running the Destination A/Ts for just over 50,000 miles. I have been very happy with them. They've been good on the road - wet and dry - and no issues in snow. Lightyears beyond the original BF Goodrich tires that came stock, which I replaced after about 36,000 miles due to poor wet brakin...

I recently had to patch a hole in my muffler. It sounds sounds better, but I think there may still be another small leak somewhere else. After 10 years, everything underneath the truck is quite rusted. Aside from the small rusted-out spot on the muffler, it appeared to be the best looking exhaust co...

2006 stereo sound quality?

I replaced the speakers in my 2006 SE (non-Bose) with JBL GTO series 6x9's & 6.5's. They sound better than the stock speakers, but there's not as much improvement as I expected - especially when listening to FM radio. There doesn't seem to be much more bass than stock. It's as if a whole range o...

The drain plug stripped, not the socket, so I'm not sure an impact driver would have helped.
I had to buy a new drain plug to replace the stripped one when I finally got it out.

I've been pretty happy with my Firestone Destination AT's. Almost 50,000 miles on them and still about 7/32's left on the tread. Been a pretty good all-around tire.

Stripped differential drain plug

The head on my rear differential drain plug was pretty rusted, so when I tried removing it with the necessary hex socket, it rounded out. Luckily, I have a set of large Torx sockets from my Wrangler days, so I was able to tap the T55 into the rounded hex slot with a hammer, and wrench it out pretty ...

After driving the truck this weekend with the ABS fuse pulled, I put the fuse back in yesterday afternoon, so it would be ready to go to the shop sometime this week. After installing the fuse, I went for a short test drive around the neighborhood, and everything seems normal again - no ABS noise. Wh...

ABS trouble

Started having some trouble with ABS on my 2006 SE this morning. First drive I saw that ABS, VDC off, and SLIP lights were all on, however everything seemed to be working normally. Starting the truck later, the lights were off, but now the ABS kicks in (grinding noise) for no reason when slowing dow...

Thanks BigEz. After reading your post that you linked, I think I may leave it bypassed. I just had the original radiator replaced because it was leaking (not the cooler), and I thought it would be better to include the new in-radiator cooler. However, if it appears that the ATF runs cooler with the ...

Undo the radiator bypass

When re-connecting the ATF lines to the radiator to undo the bypass, is there anything special that would need to be done (i.e. to account for empty cooler & hoses) besides just connecting the hoses?

When you say it sounds like a diesel, do you mean a roar? I had a problem with my fan clutch that caused the radiator fan to always spin at full speed. It was loud - actually louder than the actual engine noise. When driving through my neighborhood or taking off from a stop, it would sound like a ga...
