2012 Question

Postby SteveFinn » Mon Oct 27, 2014 1:56 pm

I drove a 2012 CPO Silver this weekend, which is a nice upgrade from my 2008 S (105,000 miles).

Did they do away with the soft-closing rear hatch? or was it broken on the one I drove? I really like that feature on my 2008.

They had a lower mileage SV both in the dark slate color...but I think I really want the leather & heated seats.

thanks

I seem to remember reading somewhere that they did away with it.

IIRC, the soft close was only offered on '08 and '09. Maybe '10. Not sure why they did away with it. I also like it and knock knock knock...haven't had a bit of trouble with it.

On my 05, I find the trick is to just let the hatch do the work, and not provide and 'force' to help it close. Honestly, after I got used to it, its not a big deal anymore.

Right, only on '08 and '09. My cinch motor broke a couple years back and it was an easy replacement.

I love being able to lay the hatch down softly and having the motor pull it in gently the rest of the way. The hardest part is catching other people before they slam it with the fury of Thor [hand of forehead].

FWIW, I slammed mine shut the first year I owned it every time because I had no idea it had a closer. Still works!

All I know is my 2012 S has no auto shut feature it's one of the first things I checked.

My 2012 SV doesn't have it either.
