don't make my mistake, the difference u pay now will make up when u sell the truck.

the path will depreciate like a falling knife and will cut u while it's coming down.

if my one mistake can prevent 2 other mistakes from happening then I'll feel I feel a bit better.

u may pay about 3 to 4k more for the 4runner equivalent but u get 3k to 4k more when u resell it.

I looked at the 4-Runner before buying the Pathfinder and remember thinking of what pussy would drive one. Now I know.

If you sold your truck, why are you still lingering around here? We already own a Pathfinder...too late to save us!

So they have identical resale value? I doubt it but that's your math not mine. I shopped the 4runner and prefer the PF. Seats in the 4Runner were uncomfortable so no amount of reliability would make up for that.

We test drove some 4Runners before we got our 07 Pathfinder. All I can say is that the 4 Runner is avery ancient design. It feels more like sitting in a mid 90's pathy. Hardly any room, my knees were in my chest because the floor is so high, no room in back for my teen boys and the tow rating was crap compared to the pathy with the 4.0.

I did not buy this truck for it's resale value. I paid cash for it with the expectation of keeping it many years as our 3rd vehicle for towing and trips.

Also by your estimation if you pay 3 to 4 k more you will get 3 to 4 k back at resale. That sounds like a wash to me?

If I paid 24K for a Pathy and sold for 14K I lost 10K.
If I paid 27K for a 4Runner and sold it for 17K I lost 10K.

Thanks so much for the advice!

Some of us aren't worrying about depreciation. And I'd have to echo 08Datsun's opinion. The 4-Runner used to be a very reliable and capable vehicle, but it has just been turned into a mall car/family car. They've been "tampons on wheels" for a number of years now. I wouldn't pass up on an FJ, but no way would I want the current iteration of the 4-Runner.

09+ FJs.

the 08s had some issues with reliability and front chassis, but lets leave that to thetoyotaFJ.com :D

ByPath,

you're probly talking out of anger due to some issues with your pathfinder.
every car has its problems, and u just happened to get a bad one. happens once it a while.

in my experience so far with pathfinders starting from the WD21 to the current R51, they can tell a hell of a beating and live to tell the tale.

i have been offroading with a stock pathfinder every single friday for the past 2 years, and never had a complaint about the reliability. it has never left me stranded. always gets home in one piece.

the older versions of the 4runner were awesome, but the newer ones are really not my choice. no power, and interior squeaks like a box of mice after just a few months of driving.

anyways, im sure ur opinion has been voiced and heard properly, so lets just calm down a bit on the pathfinder hatred.
