Its the time of the year to install new cabin air filters but I cant remember what direction the arrow is supposed to go. Last year I suspect I did the Pathfinder upside down.

Arrow Up or Down?

Check the Service Manual at the top of the forum. Cabin filters are in the Maintenance section.

It doesn't matter. Either way, it filters out particles.

Not according to the service manual. It says the arrow goes in the direction of air flow.

Thanks for the link that manual didn't come with our truck. This si what I found

The in-cabin microfilters are marked with air flow arrows. The
end of the microfilter with the arrow should face the rear of the
vehicle. The arrows should point downward.

OK.... Rolling Eyes either way, it still filters. Without the arrow, you wouldn't be able to tell which side is which.

If it were an in line fuel filter, yeah, then it would make a difference because both ends are not built the same.

Actually many air filters are designed for the airflow to go a certain way. It could be less efficient at filtering, put more strain on the system, or the filter could even break apart as a result of being installed upside down. Also I like to things the right way the first time.

I know most don't bother but I live in one of the worst places for allergies so I change these filters yearly in my vehicles after the cedar pollen clears.

So it turns out I put them in upside down last year. They came out pretty funky after a year too, if anybody else is reading this then change yours out especially if you live somewhere with lots of pollen in the air.

I got the Wix filters from Oreilly for $15 - arrows down this time
