1994 Pathfinder Security System

Postby Green94 » Thu Apr 15, 2010 5:42 pm

Does anyone have any info on the security system in a '94? It looks like it was some port-installed option as it is not described in the owners manual yet there is a separate "manual" for the system. I want to know how it's wired and how it really works. My system seems to work OK except there is an alarm horn in the engine compartment that doesn't "honk" when the alarm goes off.

I don't know how it's wired but I do know how to operate it.

>turn the switch to 'on' (obvisouly haha)
> when someone enters the vehicle without starting it, the lights will flash for I believe 30 seconds. After that time, the lights will continue to flash THEN the horn will sound.

I really don't know if that will help you, but I thought my alarm horn was disconnected at first, it just has time periods.

To shut it off, start the truck then flip the switch to "off"

All I know is mine came with it from the factory but when I bought it there was no remote for it. I found this place that sells universal keyless remotes for about $35 and it controls it great. You can tell if yours has the factory one by looking under the driver's seat and seeing if there is a little security system box under it. There is a button on top of it that is used to program a new remote. Yeah I know this isn't really what you were asking about but I didn't really know all of this stuff when I first got my pathfinder and went about a year without keyless entry because I didn't realize it already had it.
