Well, the highest temp this year was posted yesterday (March 13th), so that's encouraging. 90F is fine by me.

Aside from a Plan A which includes Titus Canyon & whatever, we should come up with a Plan B as well. I'll check the Visitor's Center the day before we meet to see if Titus is open or not. If not, and both of you will be able to find out this information as well, then we should plan on meeting up at another spot.

There's a brothel on the outskirts of Beatty...

Jim & Carl,

Have you guys looked at the maps any more? Come up with any other ideas on what you'd like to see? I'm talking about plan B specifically here.

If for some reason Titus Canyon gets blown, I figure it'd be just as easy to come right in on 190 from Pahrump (where I'm staying Friday night) and meet you in Furnace Creek. That make sense to you too Jim from where you're coming from? As for where to go, hmmm....

Okay, let's do that. If Titus is closed, we'll meet at the visitor's center (Furnace Creek) instead. 9:00am. We've all seen pictures of our rides, so it shouldn't be that difficult to find each other. Make sure your camera batteries are fresh.

Hey guys,
For some stupid reason, I was looking for these posts in the main forum sections.

Okay ... I'm still in, but not until next week Fri-Sun 28-30.

Again, sorry guys for the delays in responding.
I re-read the posts again. Was the plan still the week of the 21-28, or the 22-30th? And what Saturday is everyone going to meet? The 22 or the 29th?

I still plan on going, and if I have to, I can go Thur 27 instead of Fri 28 so I can at least meet some of you guys there.

Thanks.

No problem. Glad to hear you can make it. Yes, we are planning to meet up at the Titus Canyon turnoff at 9am on the 29th. I kind of wish you didn't go, because once I see all your toys/armor in person, I'll probably want to spend more money for the same

Should be a good time then. 4 Pathfinders isn't too bad a turnout for a first time affair.

Thx NVS!

Most likely we (my wife and I) will leave San Diego Friday morning hopefully getting there Fri night. Gotta find a place to stay now. I'm coming from San Diego, any recommendations?

Now, is that the Titus turnoff off the 374 (the one-way part) or the 190?

Should be fun.

You'll make it out just fine. Friends of mine come out from LA and it's just a few hours drive. As I mentioned to Carl, there is a motel/hotel that is very new (and seems to grow every year) on the north end of town in Beatty, NV. That would by my suggestion. Very close to the Titus turnoff, and it has a relatively okay coffee shop for breakfast. I just have no idea what the name of the place is.

374

we are meeting at the start of the one-way (374) unless the conditions dictate otherwise (at which point we will meet at furnace creek to discuss other options).

i don't have any good advice for lodging heading up from SD...sorry.

Just so that we're all on the same page, any objections to meeting at Rhyolite at 9am instead of at the Titus turnoff? If we meet there, we can scratch Plan B since Rhyolite will be open regardless.

Ragpaoa, here's a link to downloadable maps:

http://www.nps.gov/deva/planyourvisit/maps.htm

You can also pick one up at the visitor's center if you head that way. Otherwise, the only other place I know that has them is the pay booth up near Scotty's Castle, which we'll all have to stop and pay at if we head up to Ubehebe and beyond.
