That's what I'm talking about! 2014 is still workable for me, assuming nothing major happens to my Pathfinder before then. I'd love to have that diesel, but I'd also be happy with whatever new petrol engine they produce if they don't use the diesel across the board. The key question that concerns me most is what will happen to the body/frame design. If it will be toned down in the Pathfinder to something like a crossover, then I'll have to look elsewhere. The diesel news is encouraging though.

I don't really follow much in the news concerning cars or trucks, but I did notice recently that they finally put a worthy powerplant inside the Jeep Wrangler & Unlimited. MPG is nothing to write home about, but I'm sure there are a number of new Jeep owners out there with big smiles on their faces.

Before I could say "don't waste time thinking that diesel will EVER find it's way into a PF....." CarandDriver to the rescue.

I'm not going to discount something simply because it's "unibody" as the Jeeps have done a pretty good job over the years. BUT when you throw in things like FWD based & CVT....I'm out. Durango V8 or Grand Cherokee aren't looking too bad.

I've got a dozen Tahoes and Suburbans here in the company fleet and we have no complaints. Most are off-road in the mine sites on a regular basis and hold up great. In fact I was driving an '09 'burban LTZ most of this morning with 90k on the clock and far tighter than my PF with 60k. Problem is..it's big, it's bulky, it's slow to pass people, and overall just doesn't hustle all that well. 90mph down the highway it's terrific...but the two-laners with lots of hills and short passing zones....not in the same ballpark as the PF. I might be able to live with the Armada but it's still quite cumbersome compared to the PF. Plus I would miss the 19-20mpg I get with the PF.

Now if you want to talk about a turd...we have a couple Expeditions and those things have been destroyed. They may look like an F-150 but they don't handle going off-road well. We bought an Expedition XL last winter and first trip into the pit destroyed the air suspension.

On some level fault can be found with all of these trucks and manufacturers. I could argue that the Tahoe is far from a pos... But, that wouldn't get us anywhere.

I don't think so. Too long and looks like you can see the 3rd row in one of the pics.

Who says they can't make a Murano XL? I'd rather believe that than the alternative... LOL!

Well, that's certainly the proverbial final nail in the coffin for the Pathfinder. FWD? Shaped like a car, with all the off road prowess of a station wagon? At the same prices? Insane. I wonder when they will convert the 4 Runner into a station wagon.

I've had a Durango, and that experience alone is why I will never own another one. I'm still holding out some hope for a redesigned Xterra.

Dodge has come a helluva way in the last year or so. The new Durango is nothing like the old one, top notch interiors, efficient powertrains, good quality. Up until last year there wasn't a Dodge I would own besides the Ram, but that one has kicked it up a notch along with the Grand Cherokee, Durango, Charger, and others. In fact I've really considered replacing my Camaro with a Charger RT AWD which I can daily-drive. One of the nicer non-luxury vehicles on the market right now. Love the Maxima but FWD....phhhhh.
