I guess it depends on where you live. I'm surrounded by the largest families anywhere in the US & there are lots of large/small SUVs on the road bursting at the seams with kids.
Sorry, when I said SUV I meant SUV. Not crossover wagony thing that people refer to as an SUV. :D

You know the other side of this is the manufacturers requirements to hit CAFE standards. At this point the fleet average has to be 35mpg by 2020.

They should keep the current BOF design, freshen up the body, and put in this:

Nissan just left the whole mid size import SUV BOF market to toyota as their christmas gift to them, and as a royal bitch slap to us.

It just keeps getting worse all around. The whole crossover/car concept is really exploding. Not that I would ever buy a Ford for the life of me, but if I wanted a new Escape, I would RUN out and buy one now.

It sell's in Europe under the name C Max.

It is part of a new philosophy that the big three are starting to realize. They want to build world cars and get away from building special cars for the US only. So it makes sense to go to Ford of Europe that already sells models across the world and rebadge them.

GM is doing the same with cars that run under the European manufacturer OPEL. Buick is a prime example look at the Opel Insignia and compare it to the Regal. Also the Chevy Cruze and the new Sonic has been in Europe for almost ten years.

so its official now..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQkMTkZpzjw..

another one bites the dust..Best thing is nissan keeps talkin about bold design and so forth..they just went and jumped on the bandwagon just like every other automaker..
so now they've got
1.The juke.
2.The xtrail
3.The murano
4.The Qashkai..
5.The Rogue..

Do they have any more real SUVs..Honestly the only thing lacking in the current design is more rear leg room and better fuel economy..Its a damn comfortable cruiser otherwise,
I just hope they dont kill off the Xterra..

Am I alone in thinking that the new Pathy will be the (slightly) down-market version of the JX?

Of course not. You're spot on.

Mods, we have 2 threads covering this topic. Could we get them merged? Maybe even under a new category like "2013+" Pathfinder?

Please keep in mind that the pictures are not the real deal but last years Prototype from the Detroit Autoshow. In addition, to get to a 19 City and 28 Hwy figure they will be using the 3.5L engine and not the 4.0L.

Just as bad as the Ford Escape changes I posted earlier.

Current R51:

new model:

Not even remotely similar. The interior is a true minivan. Now we'll have to physically remove the seats to haul stuff, sleep in the back, etc.

Good for you, Nissan. Count me completely out as a potential buyer. I'm starting to get nervous about what will happen to the Xterra now.

This Chrysler minivan concept looks nicer than the Pathfinder "concept." Sad times indeed. I swear, they will have to come up with new lingo to show the merging of CAR-SUV-MINIVAN.
