4.0L Right side exhaust manifold R&R question

Postby smj999smj » Fri Aug 08, 2014 9:55 pm

Has anyone replaced the right side exhaust manifold or installed a right side header on their VQ40DE Pathfinder? I was reading the service manual and it instructs to "remove the engine" to replace the right side manifold. Anyone been able to do this without removing the engine?

I guess headers isn't a popular upgrade on the Pathfinder!

I'm sure you could get it out, and back in, without taking the engine out. It would require a lot of other stuff to be removed however.

I looked at the flat rate time previously and it was much greater for the right side than the left. When I looked at a 2008, it looked possible with removal of the right side, plastic wheel house. Flat rate times aren't always accurate (I remember when they used to pay 8 hours to do a clutch in a Datsun 310 "A" motor which only took 45 mins.). I was hoping to hear from someone who actually installed headers on their R51.
