Alternator replacement

Postby Hermit » Sat May 19, 2012 9:25 am

I recently discovered that my alternator was bad, so I ordered another one online from buyautoparts.com. (I get nothing from them and not affiliated with them, but I recommend them highly). Are there any tips/tricks/advice on replacing the alternator? Any pitfalls to watch out for? Any hard lessons learned by someone else? Just looking to make it as quick and painless as possible. I checked the service manual, I couldn't find anything about it, so I thought I'd ask here. Thanks! Oh, and it's a 1988 3.0 V6.

Biggest lesson I learned is to not use aftermarket alternators on Nissans! They're a lot more money, but genuine Nissan remans are the best way to go unless you want to do the job twice...or three times...
