Had some time this weekend to do the brakes, took me a lot longer than expected. Rust in general and seized slider pins.

Unfortunately no finished picture of the driver side since it's the same as the passenger. Moved onto the rear brakes which were in much better condition and appears new pads were recently installed.

Again, no picture of the finished rear passenger side since it looks the same as the driver side.

The below was received Saturday for my rear caliper and rear view mirror:

While doing the rear brakes. Found that I'll be needing to replace rear ball joints for the rear upper control arms on both sides.

Image

Looks like I'll have to do the rear sway bar end links too.

Also, had to investigate my rear passenger window switch. Window isn't rolling down from the master switch or from the door panel switch. The window switch was unplugged at the door and I was hoping I could just plug it back into the switch and voila! Working door, but alas I was disappointed. But obviously, the previous owner already tried troubleshooting it.

For $15 for a new OEM switch, it was a no brainer to just replace it. The new switch should get here soon!

 : ) Thanks Fred! There's nothing special about my thread other than a "maintenance" record for a buyer some day or for my own reference if I need to find out when I did something to the vehicle.

I received my new window switch for the rear passenger window two days ago! Window now works! Then that same evening, I found out that the rear driver window goes down, but won't go up  It will go up with the master switch, but not the actual window switch at the rear driver door. So now I have to replace that one too.

Also my glue came in for my rear view mirror base. I did a ton of searching around and everything had a 50/50 review, but what stood out the most was the E6000/6800 reviews were excellent for EVERYTHING including rear view mirrors so I went with that.

Image

Will be updated with a picture later of the base glued to the windshield and then with mirror installed. Hopefully it's a permanent fix!

Found someone to help me bleed the brakes yesterday and this is the fluid that came out of my calipers:

Image

Made sure the fluid came out clear and new before I completed each caliper - Rear Right -> Front Left -> Rear Left -> Front Right

This afternoon, I got a bit bored and motivated since I'm due back to go to work in a few weeks so have to get some stuff done before then. Changed cabin filters and engine air filter which I don't think the previous owners ever replaced the Nissan factory cabin filter:

Image

Replaced it with Wix:

Image

Engine filter comparison which wasn't too bad. The new one is also a Wix. I'm a fan of wix filters:

Worst rotors I've ever seen in my life. It may be normal for people that live in the rust belt though since I've always lived in Southern California my whole life so we experience a little rust from vehicles that live by the ocean, but nothing compared to what I've seen on this Pathy.

This pathy has 188,XXX miles on the clock. Definitely hasn't been babied. After bleeding the brakes yesterday though, my brother took it for a drive and he was amazed at how much power/tq it had. Coming from a guy that drives a 370z. I think it was the torque that had him impressed more than anything as you can just feel that raw torque pressing you back to the seat.

I guess time will tell if E6800 glue is a permanent fix for the rear view mirror. The mirror base wouldn't stick onto the windshield so I had to hold it in place for a good 5-10 minutes manually by hand til it got sticky and it would barely slide down the windshield. I ended up using an old aquarium magnet scrubber I had laying around to hold it in place for a few days to allow it to fully cure. Recommended cure time was 72 hours if I remember correctly.

It appears I also have that dreaded oil leak from the oil filter adapter cooler too so a new oem Nissan gasket is on the way. Finally also received the pink slip to the Pathy so I can take it into the DMV on Thursday morning to finally get it registered so I can go get a smog test done on it. Which also reminds me that I need to hook up my obd2 reader to it to test if it'll pass the smog test. I don't see why it won't pass, but you just never know. Also, I've been soaking the rear suspension with PB Blaster. Will continue to keep soaking all the nuts/bolts til I get to replacing all the rear control arms. Hopefully I don't need to cut any out.

Rear view mirror still on the windshield so far. Smog passed! VIN verified! Just waiting on plates now! Anyhow, found some sludge on the oil cap and oil drain. Also found some sludge inside the oil filter cooler, that's why I was getting an oil leak from the oil filter area.

New gasket came in 2 days ago.

The end result after changing that gasket out.

Sorry, there weren't any pictures taken during the replacement as it was a very dirty job. Belt and spark plugs will be on my list. Finally had a good opportunity to inspect the belt while I was doing an oil change/replacing the gasket; belt is starting to crack.

New belt installed this morning. Wasn't too bad.

Old belt that didn't turn out to be in bad shape so I'm keeping it as an emergency spare for now:

New belt:

New tire installed on spare. Tight squeeze in there with this 33" tire. A 35" tire will DEFINITELY NOT fit under there:

And oil filter is still squeeky clean from no leaks. Looks like the gasket change fixed it permanently!

That metal coolant pipe that connects to the hose from the oil cooler is looking pretty "crispy." You might want to start looking for a replacement part for it soon..

HAHA You don't have to tell me about it. I'm disgusted every time I see that rusted out pipe. It is on my list of things to do though. I'd like to get the suspension makeover done first before getting to that since I'm not even driving it yet. The bouncy suspension in itself already makes the vehicle pretty dangerous to drive.
