Did the V8s have the same radiators as the V6s?

Did the V8s have the same radiators as the V6s?

And if they did,... does mean mean the V6 radiator was oversized from the factory or that the V8 radiator was undersized?

V6 and V8 used the same radiators.

So SMJ would you say then that our V6s have unusually good cooling capacity if the same rads are also used to support a V8?
Or would you say the V8 is a bit under supported by its size radiator?

Looking at the ad of a 2008 V8 LE 4x4, FS.
Its higher miles but looks great in the pics..

It has lift (nothing crazy) and is shod with Michelin LT rated tires.. (one size up)
That last part especially is a good sign.. people who buy Michelin tires dont scrimp on other maintenance..

I asked the dealer to send me a hi res pic of the parts number sticker...

Somewhere I have a book from grad school on heat exchanger design... Exchanger performance depends on many, many things and there are trades. I wouldn't say the V-6 is "unusually good" as I could overwhelm it in unusual conditions, but it's also not unusually bad for the V-8 either. They're both going to disippate about the same amount of heat in most conditions as they're about the same weight and identical for drag.

I'd buy it, and if you do experience overheating, I have yet to see the CSF overwhelmed :-D

Yes, ShipFixer has mentioned the key points as it all depends on a lot of things. We don't (thankfully) have a lot of issues of overheating with this vehicles, so I think it's a moot point. The stock Nissan radiator is a 2-1/4" single-row core. When you get into the stock-replacement, aftermarket radiators, you usually find two options, the single-row as mentioned and a 2-1/8" double-row core, which is what I have in my 2006 (my 2008 has the single-row Koyorad). I don't notice any difference in performance between the two and unless one is towing heavy under some adverse conditions, i.e. steep hills, 100+ degree F. heat, etc., I would expect the stock radiator to hold-up just fine. As far as the CSF all-aluminum, I'm not sure if that is still available for purchase. Stillen and Offroad Gorilla no longer sell it because of problems with them. Griffin radiators has an all-aluminum rad for our vehicles, but it's around $680 if my memory is correct.

I have an '08 with the V8 and have had no issues with overheating, and frequently pull up to 7000lbs. It is still prone to the SMOD, as we discovered while on a 5000 mile trip with a 3500lb camper. Limped it home, replaced the radiator, flushed the transmission 3x and haven't had any major issues with it for 20000 miles. Currently have 127,000 miles on it.

As an update i bought a used V8 4WD and put a new Griffin radiator in it right away.
New hoses too.

Nice, you're going all out there! I've been eyeing the CSF and Griffin as well. Not in a rush to do the radiator yet, but definitely on the backburner.

^^^Very true, but I just love seeing new parts on my vehicles and for a peace of mind as I have no history on my Pathy so since I have a Carfax account, I've been logging any maintenance I've done on there for future owners and a folder of receipts/invoices lol

i am the same way. I like to think I can get my vehicles close to reliability of a brand new car.
The stuff that leaves u stranded, belts , hoses, overheats due to bad rads, bad battery etc.. we can control all these things readily on a well maintained used car.

Also I need to ask my shop if they report to carfax.
Since they are a small independent probably not. :?

If you have a Carfax account, you can update it yourself if the small shop doesn't.

I know I've taken my D22 Frontier to a local shop twice now and I know they didn't update it, I ended up doing it myself.
