FlyWheel and Clutch NEED HELP NISSAN DEAL F-ING ME OVER

hi i have a 2011 R51 and the clutch needs replacement,

i purchased an aftermarket kit form clutch industries who say the clutch and flywheel is the same on all R51 and D40s 05 through to current.

however the nissan dealer that is installing the kit are stating its wrong and the kit i supplied will not fit.

i have contacted Nissan Australia and they told me the there is no difference
from 05 to current.

so im here to get even more confirmation of this (either way) i just want answers and the truth, its been two weeks now with out this car and its costing me loads for the work to be done... even more if i need to use the nissan parts.

the dealer doing the install said the kit i supplied was for an 05 to 07 model R51

i have a 2011 R51 ST-L 2.5TDI 6 speed.

Most people on here are in the US or Canada, and we can't get our Pathy's with a manual gearbox.

However, the Frontiers do, and use the same powertrain. And I checked the PNs on Rockauto.com between the 05 and the 11.

They are the same, so your dealer appears to be full of s#!t.

In australia they are R51 Pathfinder and D40 Navara (wagon & ute or pickup)... both are the same YD25 engine with the same gearbox, however.... apparently in the latest version of the R51 the flywheel and clutch where changed slightly. So eventhough its the same yd25 engine its not :?

Im still yet to figure out how so much mud got into the housing to cause such failure to the point where the clutch had to be cut out with a grinder. Surely being a 4x4 it would be a sealed housing? And if it is a sealed housing and the seal failed then that would be a warranty issue?? And would then have to cover the clutch...

Its a difficult one due to the fact the car is such a late year... I havnt been able to find another company that has worked on a 2011 model. If it was a 05-07 model I would have no issues going aftermarket.

Also how long does it take to remove and replace the clutch and fly? Nissan is saying it will be 8hrs labour at $138/hr

8 hrs is probably pretty close. I've never done a 4WD, but you'd have tranfer case and transmission to drop, including all the lines and harnesses. Maybe a cross member to remove.

Not sure if you could do this, but is it possible to find a reputable import specialty shop that doesn't charge $140/hr? Maybe someone who could do it for a flat rate too?

Why wouldn't this be a warranty repair?

"Wear items" like clutch discs and brake pads are usually not covered under warranty.

For a clutch to wear out this prematurely is odd. I've seen shops do it on warranty, or at least work something out with the owner.

My 98 civic is a case in point...

Occasionally a dealer will warranty a clutch if it is low miles, especially if there is a mechanical failure of the clutch. They also will sometimes cover it under a goodwill warranty policy, which is often at the discretion of the dealer. If the clutch is just worn out and there is no signs of mechanical failure or if there are signs of driver abuse, they typically will not warranty such an issue. The fact that the OP states "Im still yet to figure out how so much mud got into the housing to cause such failure to the point where the clutch had to be cut out with a grinder," would be a reason that the failed clutch might be denied for warranty. Without getting into the argument of "it's a 4x4 vehicle so it should be able to withstand off-road environments," which it should and I agree with, Nissan will usually say the vehicle was driven under adverse conditions that void its warranty. Don't get mad at me because it's not my opinion, just my experience working in the past as a Nissan tech and dealing with the warranty department.

Thanks guys..

Been to and from the dealer a couple of times now.f. the reason the H/D kit I got wouldnt fit was due to the flywheel bolts being too long.... however ive found out from a company here that specializes in the YD25 engine this will always be the case when going from a DMF to a solid. Nissan was saying it was the wrong part and would not intall it because the item depscription was for an 05-07 pluss the bolt issue.

Ive now returned the clutch indestries kit and im getting a kit off YD25 thats alot better and cheaper that also comes with the right lenght bolts so will be no issue from nissan to instal. :)

And as for the mud ingress im thinking its gotten in through the side of the case where the clutch line goes through.

And as for getting someone else to do the install I cant due to the fact the clutch is already removed and no other workshop will accept the liability for the reassembly because parts could be missing and might not go back together the way it was befor and so on.... plus illd have to get a tow truck to pick it up so in the end I wouldnt save much
