Good news for the faithfull....re; senders

Postby Tech » Fri Oct 08, 2010 8:59 pm

save your receipts if you've already done your sender and maybe don't do any more senders for the next couple weeks.....

I can't/won't comment any more on this.

Awesome! . I have been driving without a fuel gauge for the last 20,000 miles!! I was wondering if this would take place at any time. NISSAN must realize the problem is more wide spread.....THANKS

I don't think you have to wait. I think all 05 models are covered. Some of the 06 models are covered also. Call your dealer and speak to someone at the service desk. They can look up your VIN and will know for sure.

As of 2 weeks ago my 05 pathy was not part of the sender unit recall.

I received a letter from Nissan yesterday stating that they are extending the warranty on the fuel sender units to 70K miles or 72 months, whichever comes first. Better than nothing but really? That gives me a few months, then I can start worrying about it again :x

Interesting. Is this extention for everybody or just specifically you? Can you post the email me the letter? I have 48k miles and my sender just went bad.

I just called Nissan and the warrantly extention ONLY applies to vehicles under the RECALL. That 2005 is STILL not covered :(

See info here (note the word "certain" in the info)

The customer service lady says she specifically gets 2 calls a day regarding the fuel sending unit.

So would the dealer require that the SES light has gone off? Or would an inaccurate fuel gauge be enough to get the warranty done?

For those of you that want up to date info :D

I just called this special Nissan Fuel Sending Problem dept. number

1-800-867-7699

The lady there did tell me that my 2005 was covered under the 72k mile extended warranty. She checked using my VIN. I asked why the previous lady gave me different info even though she looked up the info with my VIN.

Anyway, the new rep told me to call the dealer and they should have it repaired. I have called the dealer and they will be getting back to me shortly. I will let you guys know ASAP.

It didn't seem right to me that the extended warrantly only covered the RECALL cars. Why bother with the extended warranted if it was recalled anyway? :?:

Hot off the Press :)

My dealer just called me back and she now says my FSU is covered under the 72k mile extended warranty. She verified using my VIN. She did say that the unit MUST be failing for it to be fixed. I have the "check engine light" on and verified the code as a FSU problem. My analog guage works but it did mess up on a trip to AZ last week. It showed 3/4 full when it really was full. The digital part is a complete mess.

I now just have to make an appt witht the dealer. It will be an all day fix because the tank has to be dropped as you know. I hope it will go smooth and I don't get another "OH wait! you are not covered" issue.
