Correct. The new setup might rub the same amount, I never noticed/worried about it, really not an issue.

Awesome setup on your Pathy!

Can I ask a question about the tire size you chose? Why did you go bigger than the stock size? The mileage and speed is inaccurate. I agree that it looks awesome, but is there a performance gain? Any disadvantages to going big?

There's a bunch of little advantages and disadvantages...

The biggest advantages are a much larger footprint for traction when off-roading, and an extra inch of ground clearance without mucking with the OEM suspension.

The biggest disadvantage is the truck delivers 7% less power to the wheels and is therefore slower. While the V8 has lots of power to begin with, it also already has taller gearing than the V6, so adding 7% additional is something you can really feel.

Yep, I understand those pros and cons. Thanks for posting your mods and info.

Do you feel the overall gearing significantly reduced the power at your tires? I keep seeing complaints of inadequate gearing of the V8. I find that the V8 is quite strong, but I haven't towed or been seriously off road. Add that with the over size tires and it sounds like the Pathy will be limping along.

The gearing is not a significant issue at all. Even with the 7% reduction in WHP for my truck it's still significantly faster than a V6.

Also, since the motor has 400ft-lbs of torque and 300HP, it's the lower portion of the RPM range that has all the umph. Under normal driving and even knifing through traffic that's what you use and it feels fantastic.

If you really nail WOT and try to sprint through the gears that's when you'll feel it a bit out of breath just before each gear change, but again, not a big issue.

very excite!!! /borat

going to a buddys house on monday so he can help me with at least the front (and he has a more suitable jack than i do). he has a frontier and has changed the fronts struts already. he did say that we'll have to compress the front springs quite a bit to get the 2in lift out of 'em though.

so if i'm doing 2in in the front, plus new rear springs that do 2in, will that level me out? or would i need more than 2in front to correct the rake? i honestly like having a rake so i maybe only do 1-1.5 in the front if this kit levels me out.

also those bolts are the adj camber bolts from prg. figure i'll need em.

Here's the front struts in a mid-state of disassembly. One pita was just getting the lower bolt undone to get it off the truck. Air tools didn't even help, it took dual breaker bars plus another couple feet of pipe to extend the breaker bar handle. Nissan Spec says 155ft-lbs, yikes, that's a bolt!

what year is your pathy? i just did the fronts on mine with the bilsteins. i rented a set of spring compressors from autozone and basically i could not get the 'grabber' or whatever through the spring so i could start compressing. yes i removed the strut assembly before trying to get the spring compressor on there.

ended up taking the strut assemblies up to ntb and one of the mechanics there switched them out for $50 each. he also noticed the weird thing with the dust boot, but he said he took the original washers and squashed them in there or something. i kept the original boots and he said to bring it back if something like what you mentioned happens.

Their description is CRAP, but the springs are awesome, two thumbs up, can't wait to get some driving time in to feel how the rear end sways and tracks with the front now:

Lastly, do NOT expect to do this job with a spring compressor, the lower spring perch totally inhibits that option. You'll need to support the spring perch with a tranny jack and take off the outboard bolt and lower it down. Assembly is the reverse, though getting the bolt hole to line up just right is a bit of a PITA...

i 2nd the two thumbs on the 4x4 parts deal. hwy driving doesn't have the 'slosh' anymore from the back. there is still some body roll, but the body roll follows -after- you're in the turn rather than right when you start. (best way i can describe it).

i also 2nd the part about how racerx describes getting the rear spring out. it's exactly like that, and it is a little pita getting it lined back up. also when i was taking the orig spring out i used the crow bar on the bottom to get it over the 'donut' on the bottom. the 4x4parts spring seemed to go in pretty easy with just a little crow bar action.

i could have sworn it was in this thread, but i guess not.

so i had gotten those camber adjustment bolts for the rear because i read somewhere that after like 2007 the rear did not come with adj cam bolts.

well i should have looked. either the 2008 LE v8 does come with them, or someone else put them on because when i got under and looked they were there. i hope i can return the set from prg (i haven't checked yet).

My pathie is an '08.

The spring compressor I used I got at an auto parts store called "Winchester Auto" here in the bay area. It is pretty darn tight...

The rear of my truck does have adjustable cam bolts on the inside of the lower suspension member in the rear.

Nice truck. We basically have the same truck. Just got her back from the body shop after 2 months...guess that's what happens when a full size lifted Ram diesel rear ends ya. Ouch!!

Been debating on the rear spring upgrade. If it cures the rear wallowing that these trucks suffer from then I'm in!! Are there any ill issues with the ride on expansion joints or on wash boarded roads out of curiosity?

TIA
