Horn-signal when lock / unlock

Postby Sfinx » Mon Dec 06, 2010 7:54 am

Hi!

I have the 2005 LE AT Premium (2.5dci) with alarm system.
Do you know if there is possible to configure the alarm to make a soundsignal via the horn when lock / unlock?

Just wondering if this is possible, would have been nice. In norway I almost never see cars with this function.

My 2005 LE makes a sound when it is locked (i always double tap). Is your alarm and aftermarket? Something stopping the sound from working via that? Not sure but my 05 makes the sound when locking.

I'm pretty sure you can turn that on/off by holding down the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob at the same time.

Hi,

My alarm is stock, not aftermarket. Have never made any sound. And other people I know who also have Pathfinder, does not have sound either.
I think norwegian sold Pathfinder is like this stock, but there must be a way to turn it on?
I have tried to press both lock and unlock buttons on the remote but nothing happens.
Dont know about you guys, but I also have the keyless system. Wich means I dont have to use the remote to lock/unlock the car. Can just press a knob on the door handle if I have the remote key on me.
Doesnt have to use the ignitionkey either, there is a builtin one.
Is this the same on the US version?

I've got to try this...horn blowing every time you lock it is quite annoying. Hope it works. Thanks.

I think you have to hold them down for several seconds.

Hmm.. I tried even for 10 sec, but no action. Also tried when the car was both locked and unlocked. Still nothing. Ill check the manual if it says something, but havent noticed anything in there earlier..

I checked with a Nissan dealer and they said this was not possible on the Pathfinder. If I wanted a soundsignal then I needed to install something to give signal to horn, but I just wanted it if it was a easy way to do it, or if it was available in the original electronics :)

I would assume that most nissans are the same. Mine always honks and I just turned my girlfriends father's on last week on his I35, basically a maxima. Hopefully its not only for US market also :D
What I did was hold the lock button for a few seconds then press the unlock button. If that doesnt work try pressing the lock button after.

Lock (on remote) - few seconds
Unlock - one time

or

Lock (on remote) - few seconds
Unlock - one time
Lock - one time

Hi again,

I will try these last tips when I am off work in a couple of hours.
Have tried to hold down lock for a few second, and then press unlock/lock and serveral combinations.
I am pretty sure that it says nothing about the sound signal in the instruction book, but I might have missed it. If so, it would be strange when the dealer dont know of this ability.

But I also know other scandinavian cars that have these function.

I have my hopes up and will try again later on.
Let you know.
