I am not sure about the fan.

fan speed is less than 20MPH. just sitting in traffic, your transmission is not going to overheat. transmission overheats when you are towing 6,000LB trailer going up hill at 60MPH. I doubt fan helps, it just blocks air flow, imo.

FYI...The cooler has the fan on the back side and pulls the air through the cooler so I don't think it would block air flow.

in front of or behind it, the fan assy will restrict air flow through the cooler, unless the fan is running

The one with the fan is really made for a remote location that doesn't see direct airflow. Instead, you could buy one without the fan and mount it like this guy did:

The Xterra and Frontier people have multiple threads about the same radiator issues.

Thanks for the Link 08Datsun. I like that method and I think that's the one I'll use. It would still allow the engine mounted fan to pull air through it.

you have 2 hoses -
hose A - from external transmission cooler to radiator (passenger side)
hose B - from radiator (driver side) to engine block.

take hose A off radiator (passenger side) and plug into engine block
take hose B off engine block and plug into radiator (passenger side), forming a loop within.

reuse all the old hose and clamp. length is perfect.

suppose, after doing the bypass, the radiator were to fail.........
would the original "spring type" clamps have sufficient tension to keep hose B from blowing off due to coolant pressure?

Nissan uses the spring clamps for the main upper and lower radiator hoses.

Does the V8 radiator have the same weakness?

From what I can tell the V6 and V8 use the same radiator.

Is this advisable on a 2007 Model?

Did it on my 07 three days ago. They still used same trans and radiator so Im sure it could happen just as well as the 06. Better safe than sorry. And trust me, its like level 1 on a scale from 1-10, so Id suggest do it ASAP.

I redid my bypass today to reflect the above diagram. It just makes more sense than the ridiculousness I had with a bunch of zip ties before.
