That really depends on how hard you're going use it. You already said you don't tow. Off-roading is the other thing that builds a lot of heat and in my experience, is even harder on a tranny.

I know that the 05-07s have the power steering cooler on the driver's side, right where you'd want to put the extra cooler. That's something you'd have to deal with to add the second cooler. The '08+ have the factory cooler on the driver's side, and the power steering cooler down below. I just added the extra cooler and fan to the passenger's side. I thought this might block too much airflow to the radiator, but so far it has not run any hotter.
Thanks, I appreciate the input! I'll post pics after I install it.

I went to do this mod the other day, but stopped. The short hose goes to the passenger side of the radiator. But there wasn't a long hose going to the drivers side of the rad. Instead, the hose coming out of the drivers side of the rad went to the top of the aux cooler. then the hose coming out of the bottom of the cooler ran to the passenger side and back into the tranny. Any ideas on what that is all about?

that doesn't make sense, from rad to cooler and from cooler to tranny?

As best I could tell, that's how it is running.

look at where the line going to the tranny is, there should be another line right next to it , where does that go?

One goes to the passenger side of the rad, the other goes around the passenger side of the rad and runs to the cooler.

2008+ is different, as you found. I bypassed mine a long time ago with a second cooler and a fan. I search every so often to see if I can find a 2008 with the radiator cooler problem, but I haven't seen one.

Well, easiest way is to take both hoses off the radiator cooler and connect them with a short length of new hose.

As you noticed, the output for the radiator cooler wraps around the driver's side on ours on its way to the auxiliary cooler, which is on the driver's side '08+. If you re-route that hose from the rear of the radiator to the front so that the inlet from the tranny wraps around the passenger side like the 05-07's, you'll find it easy to add a second cooler, if you are so inclined.

That sounds like a good plan. I would like to add another cooler, with a fan and a thermostat, just for my piece of mind. I do tow, from time to time, and it is usually in the mountains.
Thanks for the advice.

Now your talking that the 08+ you have not seen any issues with the radiator? That's good to know. How about with the V8, 5.6Ls? Seen problems with those?
