There was a TSB on the grounding issue and U1000 or U1001 stored codes. You would have to look at the freeze frame data with a scantool to see if it applies and compare it to the info in the bulletin. You can find a copy of the bulletin in the knowledge base at NissanHelp.com
Multiple lights coming on and/or drivability issues can be caused by any of a number of things, including bad grounding, bad ECM relay and/or a charging system issue or poor battery cable terminal connection, to name a few.

thanks smj,

I've looked over that TSB, but what you've said tells me that this could be a bugger to diagnose. But it hasn't done it again and till it does I'll just have to see if it gives out any codes i guess. I'm not great with electrical diagnosis, and sure as he!! not paying the dealership to spends hours of $$ throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks. But I'm fairly certain that it was not a TRANS overheat situation now.

Since, the auxiliary cooler takes care of the cooling of the fluid, the radiator's integral cooler serves as an additional cooler if and when it is ever needed, as well as a device to maintain the temperature of the fluid in the 175-200 degree F. range, the temperature range that the transmission oil should be operating within.
I believe those that were monitoring the trans temps were using a Bully Dog, possibly with an additional temp sensor. Hopefully one of them will chime in with what they used.
Hey guys is 175-200F really the normal operating temps of these transmissions? I've had a Bully Dog in mine since before I got Nissan to replace my Tranny at 92K and am 55k into this one. I was really used to seeing the transmission run at 150F until maybe the last 20k it seems to range between 162-182F which I was starting to get concerned about. I had a flush 2K ago with no change in performance... I have bunch more data to vom out but lets see what you kind folks have to say.

You'll find this site helpful in regards to trans temps:

Does the transmision cooling problem also affect the 2011 LE V6 models?
Thanks,

Bump. I have the same concerns as Sanfer. Recently purchased a 2012 pathfinder, 45k on it, do I need to be concerned about this? Living in cold weather, the bypass would not be an option. I would assume adjustments have been made since 2005/06 to correct the seals with the radiator manufacture but am looking for verification.
Thanks much

2011 and 2012 models are not among those that are prone to failure.

I have a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder with 150,000 miles. I was very hesitant on bypassing it even though the radiator was replaced over 5 years ago by the previous owner. It took me about 30-45 minutes and it was very easy to do. Removing the metal skid plate and plastic piece under the bumper took longer than switching the hoses. I used a can of compressed air and blew out the remaining little bit of oil that remained in the radiator. I did not need to buy any parts at all. Now I dont have to worry about having a 4,500 lb paper weight.

I have read the first 20 pages and don't think I read anything conclusive about 2006.

2 questions:

1. Should I do the mod on an '06 with 80k miles?

2. Should I add an additional aux cooler if I intend to tow between 4500-6000 pounds cross country?

At the very least, bypass. I wouldn't recommend adding an auxiliary cooler, but, IMO, you would be better served replacing the radiator with an aftermarket unit being that you tow. It's not much more money for an aftermarket radiator than it is for a good, auxiliary trans cooler and a liquid-to-liquid cooler is far more efficient than an air-to-liquid cooler. I have yet to hear of any cooler failures on the aftermarket radiators nor the updated (and much more expensive) genuine Nissan radiators.
Rockauto.com sells the popular Spectra Premium CU2807 for $109+shipping. New radiators on Ebay can sell for as little as $50:

I purchased an Ebay radiator for my 2006 for $92 and it's been trouble free for the last four years. I put a Koyorad in my 2008 which I got a good deal for ($50) about two years ago and also has been trouble-free.

If I was planning on doing lots of towing I would definitely replace the radiator and since its out and all apart I would change several other items like water pump, belts and hoses.
