I hate my Pathfinder!!!

Postby FindyourPath » Tue Oct 23, 2012 11:52 am

The only reason I drive a truck is to tow my boat.
The boat/trailer combo is @ 2500 lbs. + or - .
I tow up to 250 mile round trips between 4 and 10 times a month.

What would you drive if you didn't drive a Pathfinder and why?

Well I answered Jeep since I have one as well. I like both vehicle but each serves a different purpose. Pathfinder for daily driving, towing, and trips where extra room is needed. Jeep for top down driving and for the trails. But if I needed a vehicle to replace the Pathfinder I would go with a 4-door Tacoma or extended cab Silverado. I've just always wanted a truck.

If we were not planning on towing and didn't have 4 to 6 people to take along with us on trips the Nissan Altima would be one of my picks.

If it weren't for the cost, I'd go with an Infinit QX! What I don't understand is why are there no Toyota options in the poll? Should have at least put the Forerunner up on the list!

I agree. I can't *&%## stand pickups, and would never purchase any of the makes and/or models from that list. I'd say the 4 Runner is the closest to the Pathfinder (or used to be, with the new redesign). Lots of other options out there as well, but I don't know if you could fit them all in on a poll here. I know it is only a poll, with no right or wrong answer, but the list is rather incomplete.

Since I bought the Pathfinder for a reason, I would only be looking at the 4 Runner or Xterra myself, assuming either of those still exist in their current manly form (unlike the PF redesign).

I would get a 4Runner if not for the Pathfinder.

Yeah, I would probably go for the Xterra, as well, or a crew cab Frontier. I'm starting to miss the bed of my old Hardbody and Tacoma trucks!

When we bought our Pathy there was a Toyota Tundra Crew Max Limited 4x4 for the same price and similar mileage. Wife wanted me to get it but i didn't at the time wanna get rid of my Lexus IS. A Tundra Crewmax will be my next vehicle in about 100,000 miles or so since the Xterra will most likely no longer be made.

A friend has a 2013 Ram which he let me borrow to go pick up some outdoor patio furniture in another city. Traveling around 80 mph on the highway with mixed city driving, some idling while loading, and returning with 800 lbs of concrete patio furniture in the bed of the truck I averaged over 20 mpg. The 8-speed transmission mated to the Hemi 5.7L V8 is a dream.

I wouldn't want to drive a full size truck everyday simply due to size but the new Ram gets better MPG than my Pathfinder despite being 1,600 lbs heavier. And the cabin is quiet too. Needless to say I was impressed by the truck. I'm not the only one. Ram recently was awarded Motortrend 2014 Truck of the Year again making it the first back-to-back winner in the history of the award.

Armada or a diesel pickup, probably Dodge to get the Cummins ISB.

I have an '03 Ram 3500 Cummins and just spent a weekend awhile back driving to Michigan UP with a buddy in his '13 F-250 diesel. I just don't want to drive either of them every day. Such a horrible ride and these new ones really don't get impressive mpg at all. We were towing a 14' trailer with two ATV's and averaged 14 for the trip. I can get 16-17mpg with my Dodge pulling that little trailer.

I think unless you're really needing to haul heavy a 1/2 ton is a much better option. They'll get the job done for occasional towing and still be comfortable and cheaper to operate than the diesels. 10-15 years ago I never would have said that but today, spending $6k+ on a diesel engine and then paying $.50/gallon more for fuel and getting similar mpg....nah! Out of 20 new trucks I bought this year for my company, only two were diesel and they were going to be used for much heavier duty than the other 3/4 tons.

I'm really not sure what I would buy. My company vehicle is a Suburban LTZ and I like driving it a lot except on these two-lane state routes. It just can't hustle through the turns or pass like the PF, but it's very comfy out on the highway. Mileage isn't bad either. Same goes for the Armada and Sequoia except their mileage is a lot worse. I'm either going to have to slow down and accept driving a bigger SUV or just run this one into the dirt. Right now I'm doing the latter.
