Installing OEM Fog Lights

Postby Hobejam » Mon Jan 18, 2010 4:47 pm

Greetings!

I am the new owner of a 1997 XE and I want to add the OEM fog lights to it.

I have already located and purchased the necessary column combo switch and what I believe to be the predrilled bumper holes to which they mount.

I have the following questions:

Will I find the necessary connections within the steering column or will I have to improvise?

Do I need the OEM brackets for the fog lights or can I bolt them right to the bumper? It appears that the bolts line right up with the existing holes in the bumper, but there are only two holes and three bolts...

I have located two unused plugs on a wiring harness running vertically in front of my AC condenser. The plugs appear to match those on the OEM fog lights. Are they, indeed, the fog light wires? If so, do I simply unbundle them and run them to the OEM lights?

Is there a mod that will allow me to run the fog lights independently of the low and high beam settings but still shut the fog lights off if the park lights are off? I had a 1991 Mustang GT that I wired this way with an axillary relay...

Whew.. I think that is it for now.

PS: Already replaced all 4 rear control arms. ;)

I'm soooo close I can taste it... ;)

Received and swapped out the signal stalk with the fog light switch and put a fog lamp relay in the main relay block under the hood.

Signal stalk switch causes the relay to click as expected. :D

Still no power at the two plug ends I assumed were the fog lamp pigtails running vertically from a loom in front of and in the center of the AC condenser behind the grill.

Have I missed something or are these not the fog lamp pigtails?????

HELP! (please)
