I haven't talked to her yet if she wants to go. If we did left hand again I could bring some clays and if you bring the jeep we could go further into the trails and see what they are like with leaving my pathy at the spot we stopped at last time. I will see if Ross is interested in joining.

Woulda been fine I got ya covered. I DC'd my front sway bar permanently so I've got 2 good end links sitting in the garage, woulda gladly sent you them.

Mine is not a DD though, so that's why.

You fellas get to do the trip, if so, any pics?

yeah there were a couple shots, but since they were of the jeeps instead of pathy i didn't post them. but i guess i'll do a couple now :)

we went up alot farther this time, but i'm not sure if it was all the way through. we shot cgrays shotgun, and drank beer. it was an awesome day.

sure was alot easier to offroad in the jeep than the pathy, even though right now i think the jeep doesn't have as much ground clearance as the pathy

All in all what would be your review of the Jeep compared to your Pathy on the trails?

well see that's tough. since the jeep isn't a DD i think i'm a little more aggressive with it and push it more.

it's ALOT easier to see around the vehicle, especially with the doors and top off. you know -exactly- where you are and can make sure you're on the lines you need to be on.

both of mine have open/open diffs, but the pathy might have one leg up with ABLS.

the jeep is WAAYY lighter so there's not as much 'umpf' when you go over a rock to quickly and bounce. not sure how else to explain that one.

don't think i have to mention turning radius

changing out the suspension components is WAYYYY easier on the jeep. everything is -right- there. none of those hard to get to upper rear shock bolts.

however the steering component setup is different. i think i fixed the death wobble (google death wobble wrangler), but it seems relatively easy to come back. i'm slowly replacing parts up there though.

jeep parts are ALOT cheaper, however it seems you can't just change one thing without changing something else. for example i put a 2in suspension lift (new springs) on. well now i'm getting some rear drivetrain vibrations. turns out the way the xfer case is i now need to do one or more of the following: 1. 1in xfer case drop (cheapest but you lose clearance, ~$30-50), 2. replace rear upper control arms to change rear diff/pinion angle (next cheapest, ~$150+), 3. install slip yoke eliminator and new CV rear drive shaft (most expensive, but is the -proper- way to fix the problem, ~$500+labor cuz i'm not touchin that one!).

all in all 'out of the box' you can do more offroad with the jeep than the pathfinder.

The drive shaft replacement is not that bad. I had to do that on my 99 Grand cherokee when I upgraded to the 4 inch lift. It originally came with a CV style front drive shaft and with 4 inches of lift it blew up real quick. Actually it died just after I got off a trail. Ended up crawling under and taking it out so I could drive home. Found a replacment U-joint style driveshaft and swapped that in. Couldn't have been happier. Loved that Jeep.

oh it's not so much the drive shaft part of it, it's the sye install part. i don't think it's a good idea for me to go messing around inside an xfer case :)

but since i'd be taking it in for the sye, i'll just have them do the CV rear conversion at the same time.

figure i'll take it to this 4x4 place near me, they did my front toe alignment for me for free after i put the 2in on.

Lol. Ask the nissan engineers... Why they didn't give us any suspension articulation. Just glad the the frame didn't twist. Lol

HOLY CRAP! That is impressive. The chassis is very stiff on the PF and should be able to take some abuse like that. If you are going to do that every weekend I suggest a major overhaul and a bunch of new parts to give more travel and articulation.

Pics like these also proves that the guys on the forum are some of the only people putting actually finding paths with our Pathfinder's!
