Location of transmission speed sensor

Postby Rdcjg27 » Tue Sep 23, 2014 7:03 am

I got a 2008 Pathfinder 2wd 6 cylinder, auto and the transmission will shift fine goin but will not down shift, and check engine light came on. I had it scanned and it says transmission speed sensor. So I went and bought one but cannot not find it on my pathfinder. I called 2 Nissan dealerships and both of them told me it was on the tail in of the tranny on the driver side but there is nothing there except wires for my O2 sensors. Please help me!!!!

On the older Pathfinders, the vehicle speed sensor was located on the tail housing of the transmission (2WD) or on the transfer case tail housing (4WD), but the R51's use the ABS wheel speed sensors input instead of a trans mounted VSS. Do you have the trouble code # and the part #? Maybe we could help you out if we knew that info?

I wish you had the Nissan P/N. The part you lists looks like a revolution speed sensor, and, if it is, you will have to drop the trans pan and valve body to access it. Here's what it will look like when you remove the pan, showing the revolution sensor harness:

There's also a TSB you might want to check out:
