Northern New Mexico Camping

Postby NmexMAX » Wed Jul 25, 2012 3:22 pm

Nothing too wild or dirty.

First camping trip of 2012. Weekend before Memorial Day. About 25-30 Miles east of Taos. Don't let the camper trailer fool you, I didn't tow it up, it belongs to a buddy of mine.

Don't think I would have fared too well going where this thing went, although I would have tried if I had better tires.

This was the weekend before the 4th in the Jemez area.

I hope to have at least 2 more trips this year.

Looks fun. Cool Little lake. Any fish in there? Next time go play with the big boys. Anything a giant truck like that can do most PFs can handle. You can choose your line much more easily if your truck isn't a million feet wide. Nice of him to tow that killer camper up though!

Another holiday weekend spent offroad.

Unlikely enough, I was the only one there with functional 4WD. One guy with a newer Chevy had a blown sensor, so his 4WD wasn't functional, and the other guy is still waiting on his front driveshaft.

This area is about 100 miles north of Santa Fe, Hopewell lake. Man was it high up there. This area can only be reached by road from April through late September/early October, and that stretch of road is closed every year after that.

Not too sure of the name of the app. I just remember it was free and searched altimeter when I downloaded it. I like it because it works even if I don't have service.

Exactly why it caught my eye. No service, but it still shows data.
