Part sourcing for R51 in Canada

Postby Amoun » Sat Feb 01, 2020 12:05 pm

Hello fellow Pathers! (is that a word?)

New to Pathfinder world and starting to get the customization bug for this beauty.
I am doing very basic things for now, just to add a little accent (ie: yellow fog-lights instead of clear, a bull bar, etc)

What I wanted to know, is there do people source their parts in Canada? I have no issues finding them in the states but then the shipping end up being at least 50% extra on top of the purchase price (understandably). An alternative I was thinking of is having them delivered to a "holding" service on the bordering city, and then going there to pick them up but was wondering if there is a better way of doing this.

Thank you!

Partsavatar.ca is usually good and sometimes cheaper than rockauto.

I use both, ship the rockauto parts to my US PO Box. You could use a border parcel service too but this only works if you are within 100km or so of the border.

Not to take advantage of your reply BUT:
Do you simply open a PO box and thats it, or is there a service you'd recommend?

First time doing something like this. Surely will figure it out eventually but hoping to rely on expertise

I use Kinek. https://www.kinek.com/

On their website, they show several locations close to you:

Greater Toronto Area:

Niagara Falls, New York
New York Mailbox(can accept any size or weight)

Try Crossborderpickups

Use Cross Border pickups if you are in Toronto (I am).Just register for free on thier website. They basically do the same thing, where they create a US address for you.

They handle the border stuff with no issue, and have flat fee service for parcels and such based on size and weight. No brokerage fees and two location east and west for pickups. The deliver US priority mail and consolidate shipments every week (hence no fees).

I've used them for everything, and by far the best and efficient process. They are a hidden gem.

I have everything delivered through them by Amazon or Ebay if there is no efficient and inexpensive delivery to Canada directly.

Solves the border problem as the parcel comes to one of the two Toronto locations, or for extra they will delivery to your home directly. Never had an issue with them. It's Gold Jerry, Gold.
