I used 4 cans and did all four wheels, front grill parts that are chrome and the nissan symbol, the piece of white under the front license plate like doctah's, also the rear nissan symbol and the chrome piece on the tail gate. Looks sharp. I need to wash it and take some pictures.

I had done this on my maxima last year. took 2.5 cans doing 2 coats and touch ups. I used index cards jammed between the rim and tire bead to block overspray on the tire.

Might do this on the pathfinder!

finally took it to a self wash place for it's first wash since doing the rims.

seemed to hold up just fine to the pressure washer at full blast when held 2-3 foot away.

also seemed to hold up just fine using the scrub brush on both the rocker panel and rims. now i didn't scrub -hard-, but i didn't just drag it across either.
i do have one little section on the rocker panel that's just starting to peel/tear a little, but i'm pretty sure it was started when i was using the razor blade to separate the plastidip from the masking tape when i made the line.

in the next week or so i might take the car through one of those 'touchless' (sprayers only) car washes to see how it does.
Do you mind posting a couple pics of the rocker panels with the plastidip?

If you have an account with photobucket or similar image hosting site, just use the image location/url and the image tags.

Example:

here's the closest thing i have right now. this was taken awhile back before i had the rock sliders (next pic). With this pic i was toying with doing the skid "plate" so that front part is totally photoshopped, but the rocker panels are not.

and then here's one back from Dec after i had the rock sliders installed:

Spare Tyre

Postby Philfinder » Sun Aug 24, 2014 4:41 pm

Hi there

Do you have your 5th alloy fitted with a BFG too?

Is there enough room in the spare wheel/tyre recess under the car for an alloy with a bigger tyre? I had envisaged it already being a bit of a snug fit....

If there isn't, and you get a flat on your BFGs, and you throw on the "stock" wheel/rubber, is that going to instantly ruin the diff? (meaning having to phone roadside assistance and get an embarrasing flat bed ride home in the event of puncture?)

I love the look of your motor, mate and plan on doing something pretty similar to mine if not identical! I fancy giving the Grille a go to with the Plasti-Dip, but leaving the Nissan Logo as per centre caps on wheels.

Yup, 285/65/18 fits in the spare area on the factory le rim. Sometimes you have to help it get into the correct position, but it certainly fits...

Old thread but wanted to share. I just completed a 3000 mile roadtrip and they are holding up great. I used 3 cans, and applied about 7 coats. [/img]Image

How durable is that plastidip stuff on wheels anyway? Watching the application videos gives me the impression that while it looks nice, I'm guessing that it'll get scratched up or peeled off kind of easily. Might be ok for road cars, but offroad, maybe not?
