yeah, the acutal time spend shifting is much longer too. If you're particularly light on the throttle, the shifts seem quite lazy sometimes. You need much more throttle input to get as firm a shift as the older ones.

It's very apparent at WOT on steep hills. I have to turn onto a steep up-hill climb and usually have to peg it to get out into traffic. There's quite a lag between those gears and it makes some scary sounds if I do it in manual mode. Performance is still decent but it would be quite a bit better if the shifts were firm.

I have a 2008 V8 PF. That was the only year they made the SE in V8 and that's the one I got. I don't care much for interior upgrades but the engine is #1 in my book so I got the 4x4 V8 for cheaper than a loaded V6.

Now they only sell the V8 on the LE with leather and nav so it does get expensive.

I like the power on the V8. I'm planning on getting some aftermarket 17" wheels/tires for it though.

sorry to hijack the thread a bit but Tech is it possible for the Pathys arriving in the middle east to not have the ABLS system, for us we dont get the VDC standard ('S' and 'SE' models dont come with VDC as standard) but only comes on the LE models. So is it possible that we dont get the ABLS either (apart from the LE). Ive got the 08 SE myself and have been searching for a good answer but nt found one yet. So just wondering if you got any insight into this.

And also your right, 1-2 seems lazy sometimes if your light on the gas, but feels spot on if you give it a bit of gas.

IT'S POSSIBLE. THE TRIM LEVELS MEAN ALMOST NOTHING WHEN YOU GO FROM REGION TO REGION. EVEN BETWEEN US AND CANADA. I'M AFRAID I CAN'T GIVE YOU A DEFINATE ANSWER ABOUT THE MIDDLE EASTERN CARS. DO YOU HAVE DIFF LOCK OR HILL ASSIST?

Nope we dont get any diff lock options either apart from the centre diff being locked when in 4hi. As far as hill start and hill descent go, the SE trims dont get em ive nt seen the LE trim though but im pretty sure they dont get it either..

My first truck was a 77 ramcharger with 360 4bbl v-8 , soon upgraded to a 440 six pack with 11:75/1 pistons , the pathfinder v-6 is pretty strong for a v-6 , at least as much guts as the 360-v8 . Tow a 2500 lb trailer 80% of the time with no trouble , had a 6x14 trailer loaded with over 400lbs for a few days and it pulled it , a bit of a struggle uphill but not bad . Th v-6 is fine , but if you are towing 5000 lbs often I would go v-8 as it will not strain as much wich will equal longer life , the diffs are stronger as well .
Got to say this is one of the strongest v-6 around , supercharger would be a nice addition

I know this is an old thread but it does show that this forum has a good spread of different engines for our pathys.
few other paces have as many active V8 users.

My input, V8 will be faster if you're talking about pure performance whether from a roll, 1/2 mile, or 1/4 mile. The advantage of the V8 LE that no one takes into account is that it has the awd mode...from a dig, V8 is gone at the launch even with all features and options included...just that 100+ lb/tq is a definite difference. Even with the Xterra being a couple hundred pounds lighter...just the awd launch in the V8 will take most cars off the line and the other vehicle will have to play catch up.

Preformance Racing's V8 Pathfinder ran 13.2 in the 1/4 mile 101 mph trap speed with their custom intake manifold, headers, a complete exhaust system, and a cold-air intake system. After some tuning of the ECM their Pathy produced 321 whp and 375 ft lbs of torque. I've yet to find a V6 Pathfinder, Frontier, and/or Xterra run that fast with the same or similar mods.

I guess that's all fine if one is going to drag race their Pathfinder, but how many Pathfinder owners need to do 13.2 in the quarter-mile?

Not many, but it was in response to pretty much most of the whole thread was discussed about.

I would do an uprev osiris tune on my car, if i get headers or an exhaust.
