I saw this article about brake light issues staying on for 2013-2015 Pathfinders and a recall for it:

Yup! It's the 2nd one they're issued for the brake relay.

For the life of me, I don't get why Nissan just warranties zillions of brake switches and doesn't mitigate the underlying problem. That isn't the switches, it's the loads causing arcing across the switch contacts, and it isn't like R52's are the only model with issues. Our Parts Department carries in-stock switches for virtually every late model, and the reason is simple, they fail a lot. On I-key cars, that often means a stranded customer.

If you want to mitigate it yourself and prevent future problems, put an old-school condenser (as in points-and-condenser) on the un-powered side of your brake light circuit (the wire that feeds the brake lamps, whether they're fed from a relay or directly from the switch). Doesn't matter what kind you use, Delco D204's are generally cheap and available and that's what I added to our '13 Altima. $7~10 at net prices but I'm sure they'd cost $0.10 in the quantities Nissan buys things. I love Nissan but there are a couple things they do that just make me nuts, and this is one of them. Why they just keep recalling-and-replacing is beyond me.

Preaching to the choir here. You should write to Nissan North America with your complaint. Maybe they'll run it up the chain of command (or not).

Lol, I work for a dealership. Electrical specialist. Not that it means the Engineering Dept listens to us much. :(
