Odd noise at start up

Postby ShipFixer » Mon Jan 31, 2022 9:26 pm

So during cold starts (not "winter," just after sitting a long time), my truck makes non-metallic sputtering noises for 5-10 seconds like either something is pressurizing, or a relief valve somewhere is letting go. The engine itself sounds fine, this is something else. I know the noises of, or can reasonably eliminate the A/C compressor, coolant, engine driven fan, belt, and lube oil. Other stuff that occurs to me are brakes, power steering, crankcase vacuum, and transmission. There are no obvious leaks and all of the reservoirs are full, wondering if something is clogged somewhere.

Going to go look with a flashlight. Haven't had someone else turn the key while I watch so this is a completely new adventure at this point.
