Pathfinder TDI Swap!!!

Postby Hootindustry » Wed May 04, 2016 6:20 am

So im in the process of swapping an Alh into 2007 pathfinder for my wife. I've already swaped one into a 6mt xterra. The build discussion is on thenewx.org I've managed 35mpg with a mechanical pump and 38mpg on the stock pump. With this pathfinder i found a 99 jetta with 200k on it. Ran great has bigger nozzles and is tunned. Ill update more info and pic later this weekend. The build should be on the road by nexts month.

I'd be all for the 2.5L Nissan diesel, but going to sub 100hp would be a no go...

@Labsy
How many KMG/MPG do you get on your 2.5?
Getting a 2.5 out here in the states might be a little expensive.

I understand, looking from the outside it seems like it wont work. Although when you compare numbers of the YD25DDTi and a the alh, you will see with just a tune and nozzles that an alh can easily match the 2.5 with 129whp and 239trq at the wheels compared to the 131hp and 224trq to the crank. if you add a turbo and you can easily hit +350trq reliably comparing it better to the the newer DCI. That paird with the vast availibily of parts and knowledge, makes a far better swap. I have a 4JG2 3.1 diesel in a toyota and somtimes parts become difficult for engines not in production in the United states.

I'v towed a camper loaded down 400miles with my little 1.9 vw xterra with no issue.

Also towed a Pathfinder 250 miles with a tuned TDI jetta with no power issues what so ever.

To be honest, I usually pass with 20 mpg and if I drive relations with speeds not exceeding 70 mph, I might pass with 23 mpg.

2.5 diesel sounded great to me when I bought the vehicle, but after a year I changed my mind. Too thirsty and badly designed engine (head gasket blown, chains snap, head warped, thermostat housing warped....and loud in cabin like a sh**).

REBIRTH OF A THREAD

Guys, I saw this thread over on the Xterra forum but wondering if the Auto Trans and the 4wd were all worked out? I actually thought about the 3.0L V6 TDI from the Toureg in my Pathy. I am dying at 12 MPG and $6.50 per gallon!!!!

Thoughts?

I know this thread is ancient but would also love to see a VW TDI swap into a pathfinder.
