(My) Successor to the R51 (yes, it's a Nissan)

Postby Heisenberg » Mon Jun 27, 2022 6:47 am

Hi All,
The '06 Pathfinder currently has 330 000 km on it, and is starting to look pretty bad. The two separate deer incidents have turned to front clip to mush, held in place with zip ties and Gorilla tape. It still runs amazingly well, considering the original(!) spark plug is seized in cylinder #1.

Then I drove by the Nissan dealer and took a King Cab Frontier Pro-4x for a test drive. The rest was paper work.

White wasn't really my first choice, but at least it will hide the bush pin-striping and road salt. I shall call you (storm) trooper.

And yes, I've already joined clubfrontier.

Hi glad to hear you replaced with Nissan only!
Please consider checking out the truck section of our Nissan parent forum Nico.
We would definitely like some more Frontier traffic there.

You wont be such a small fish there as you would in clubfrontier...

Actually, in that photo, the white looks pretty sleek! Nice job.

Big +1. I think the white and the pearl blue both look great on the new Frontiers. The navy gray and army green you can keep.

I was thinking for the past week, on how many new manufacturers are going to "pastel" like colours on vehicles.

And I couldn't put my foot on it, what vehicles in the past reminded me of those colours. ..they look so familiar....
Then it came to me, after I saw this video..those old East German Trabant.
Also, old East Europe Skodas and Fiats from the 1970's

They used to have many military like colours, probably due to the automatic paint available from those same sources.

Well, the only vehicles I've ever seen that looked good in that crappy battleship gray were the Kia Stinger and the M-113 APC. It looks horrible on a Rogue or Murano (and yes, a Frontier). I find myself chronically resisting an urge to stencil a white star on the doors.

I like the Olive drab and desert tan colors for the Frontier.
A bit of atactial vehicle look.

Both my Xterra and my Pathfinder are grey.
The Pathfinder is a nice lustrous gray with tiny champagne flakes in it though.

Nothing against pearl grays or gunmetal. I'm talking about the non-metallic (literally battleship) gray a lot of OE's are playing with lately. "Look, Kiptain, it's a Klingon bittle cruiser!"

Awful!

I know what you are talking about... :P
But its an intentional play in the military look.
It doesnt bother me, and in Army green and Desert Brown I would consider it for myself.
The battleship grey looks a bit boring to me.
