This is more "recalls for dummies" just like the secondary latch recalls on the Altima. First, it isn't the main latch that's involved, it's the secondary lever-latch that you work manually to get the hood open after pulling the release. So unless your dummy credentials include driving with a cracked-open hood or pulling the release lever while underway, it will never matter. Secondly, you pretty much need to let the whole latch become a visibly-crusty mess before the secondary will freeze up and quit working. Most of the people I know here in the forum would be hitting it with PB Blaster at the first sign of rust or binding, and that's really all that's needed. It isn't like the latch isn't right there in plain sight when you open the hood. :roll:
