97 Pathy troubleshooting

Postby ruidaponte » Tue Mar 14, 2023 6:38 pm

Hi there,

Currently, I get the following error codes on my Pathy: P0325, P0300, P0141, P0171 and P0174.

I have already looked around over some topics and I'm trying to start with the cheapest: Air intake leaks. Today I connected the smoke machine to the air intake hose and there are a few leaks. My question is about EGR Control Valve: Is it normal for the smoke also comes out of it when injected through the air intake hose or may it be a leak?

Many thanks

There's always a chance of a cylinder being stuck at valve overlap in any stopped engine, so it's normal for smoke to reach the exhaust system and the tailpipe should always be blocked for a fair test. However, it shouldn't be leaking out anyplace from the EGR system. That valve's job is to direct metered exhaust back into the intake stream, so it should be airtight on both sides of the interface.
