Do you have a model number for those lights?

The Katana bulbs are here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/315139963199

KATANA 9007 HB5 LED Light Bulbs 16000LM 70W 6500K Cool White Extreme Bright Pair

These are popular across all of the Frontier/XTerra forums too. I have tried several and these are the most focused of all so far. They are still diffused compared to projectors or halogens, but somewhere in between for overall goodness.

The SIEMED fog lights do a great job of filling in the ground between the truck and the headlight center with light, and are a little warmer in color temp so they do a better job of showing you pavement contrast particularly on really dark, black asphalt. They pair very well with the Katana bulbs for an effective light set up.

But I would never, ever give up my projectors ;-) I would spend another $750 to get another set if something happened to them, they are that good.

Thanks, ShipFixer.

Now I just need to figure out a good way to clean up the housing that is starting to cloud.

Some cursory "research" on the web suggests that LEDs in an OEM housing designed for halogen bulbs is not a good idea. Does anyone have experience just swapping out halogen bulbs and replacing with LED - and what was the result?

My grandpa used to say, "Everything is good and bad that doesn't explode... and even some things that do explode." LED's in halogen housings have an up side and a down side, like anything else. Because they generate less heat and vent the heat they do generate outside the housing, they're far less destructive to the aluminum-plate "chrome" of modern reflectors. They also cause little or no lens hazing. The major downside, particularly in head and fog light applications where the housings are vented, is that LED's don't produce enough heat to drive moisture out of the housing. In humid climates that can cause constant battles with misty lenses and corroding reflectors, and the only good way to drive the moisture out is to reinsert a halogen and run the lamp for several hours. For customers with separate high-lows I generally recommend leaving the halogen high beams alone, so if moisture gets in they can just boil it out with the high beams. For dual beam setups like the R51, there's really no good option but to temporarily restore halogens and run them in the driveway till the lenses clear. The other potential downside is beam pattern, since LED's aren't generally a uniform "point source" of light like a filament. Manufacturers have got much better in recent years about paying attention to beam shape and uniformity, but some do it better than others. If one brand makes you unhappy, you may need to try another.

Wet sanding and polish with an orbital will get it clear, but require regular touch ups since the factory UV coating is no longer effective and/or gone. Headlight protective film or something like Cerakote's headlight kit are something you can do once:

If you Google "frontier forum katana bulbs" you will find a lot of commentary including beam pattern photos.
