Downsize - Armada to Pathfinder

Postby ADAMAR2011 » Sat Sep 21, 2024 6:17 am

Went from 2011 Armada Platinum to 2011 Pathfinder Silver. A downsize and a downgrade in metals! Haha! Driving the Pathfinder has been a revelation, it's a lot more fun to drive with no air suspension and less weight. Love the VQ. It has 124K miles and I know very little about it's history. Carfax is vague. It does have some issues and I'll be doing my usual replacment of all fluids with a new used car.

Issues - Dashboard Power and rear power sockets don't work. Checked fuses and they look good. Glovebox power socket does work. Got a MAF sensor CEL, turned it off and it hasn't come back yet. Otherwise the engine runs well and transmission seems good.

I know previous Nissan's have the radiator, trans cooler crossover issue. Supposedly 2011 is not an issue but since it's cheap insurance I might just change the radiator now. Thoughts? Is that overkill? Anyway, hoping to put at least 80K on this car, which for me will take a while since I only drive about 9k per year.

How do you find the difference in power? Going from a large with a V8 to smaller with a V6?

With a 12 yr old SUV its just about time for a new radiator anyway, prophylactially.
It goes w/o saying new hoses, new Tstat should be part of that.

Welcome to the Pathfinder world. These suvs aren't very different from the Armada so you'll find a lot of similarities between the two.

I'd say the power to weight ratio is pretty similar, in fact the Pathfinder is probably a bit snappier acceleration wise. The Armada weighs 5300 or so, the Pathfinder weighs like 4800

Thanks! I definitely will be using the knowledge here. I am figuring out that a real hamfisted idiot owned this before me.

Ha! True! I replaced a couple before so I know the procedure.
