New to Me R51 - finding the issues out as we go

I picked mine up from a used car dealer. It's a 2011 so fairly old but I'm enjoying it. Having said that, evidence all over that the previous owner didn't take care of this thing. So far I have had to take care of:

- all three wipers
-fog light bulbs
-P0101 (MAF) code. Cleaned the MAF and replaced the tubes from the airbox to TB. This is where I learned that some ham fisted idiot broke on of the bolts that holds the cover on the engine. Luckily the bolt is mostly sticking out so I'm going to try twisting the remains out with vice grips.
-All the clips that hold the grill on were missing except one. Found cheap replacements at autozone.

Next order of business - replace all fluids and the radiator as a preventive maintenance step. I can't afford to have the milkshake thing happen, I need this car to last as long as possible.
Cosmetically the rear wheels are horribly corroded, will try to find cheap replacement from any Xterra, Frontier or Pathfinder that will fit. And then I'm just gonna drive it!

I am coming from an Armada, so I LIKE the gas mileage! I drove a couple of hours away and got 19 mpg, that's pretty good. Anyway, look forward to all the information I will find here.

Looks like a nice pickup.

You could perform a coolant bypass. I've had mine bypassed since I bought it, and the coolant temp has never swayed, and my aux fan has rarely kicked on, even in 35C heat stuck in traffic.

I would, though consider doing a new thermostat, if you are taking it apart.

Maybe check the local classifieds for stuff, if you are really frugal.

Some 5-6 years ago, some dude got rid of his R51, and sold all his spare parts for $100. Including a brand new Denso Radiator, serp belt, pulley, etc.

Yeah. I will prob drop some coin early on here for peace of mind. I can do most stuff myself so I'm not thinking the financial hit will be that big.
