06 to 12 compatibility rear suspension?

Postby woowoo » Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:02 am

Hello all,
Need some help.
My 2012 Pathfinder V6 has a rusted rear subframe and suspension.
I was able to find a rust free southern replacement (entire suspension, including hubs, axles, rear end, control arms and crossmember) from a 2006 Pathfinder.
Some say it will fit others claim I need 07 or newer?
Any opinions, facts?
Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of any differences. Maybe try going to nissanpartsdeal.com or a site that has parts diagrams with part numbers to see if they use the same part number for the rear subframe. I don't see why Nissan would change the rear subframe imo and should fit, but you may want to do some due diligence on your part.

I was bored, and I was interested - as I had thought that only the V8 vs V6 were the differences...

I also try:
Car-Part.com. (they have a lot of frames for all the years, many down in the dry south)

Enter your vehicle, year, and all model years that it fits, will display from the earliest to the latest models.
For 2008-2012, match
For 2006-2007 - match
For 2005-2006 match

Nissanpartsdeal.com (There are weird things going on)
2005-2007 match 55400-EA500
2007-2012 match 55400-ZS30A

I've checked Nissan Canada (cross reference up here I use with my VIN) and it shows.
2005-2006 match
2007-2012 match

Courtesy Nissan in Texas ( the gold standard) at one time, and probably still is..
2005-2006 match
2007-2012 match

In all, I would say you need to go 2007+ to get the correct frame.

For the life of me, I've searched every part that installs into both frames, and everything is a match from 2005-2012 - typically Nissan trickery this is.

I know what any Nissan dealer will tell you. Go with 2007+

I'd hedge my bets that it all fits, as in Europe, they show only one frame from 2005-2014 for the R51.

Something to consider is that the frame might be rust free, but it doesn't mean the components are in 100% shape. Bushings could suffer from dry rot, and hubs could be shot. It's almost 20 years old frame being a 2006. I would assume 100% some of the carriage components, are not all 100%.

True value is in the carriage, so it's a win if you can find the correct fit/year.

Thanks for the replies.
Local Nissan dealer (Bowser) parts guy says April 2007 and newer.

I did the same thing with cross referencing the parts and it seems that everything uses the same part number except the crossmember (subframe)?

Mine is really not terribly rusted. I have a hairline crack forming near one of the welds where a control arm attaches. It's behind the shock absorber. It might be an inch and a half long and no more that 1/32 gap at the widest point.

I've removed the shock, cleaned up the area and have a clear shot to weld it up. Waiting for a welder to show up to do it right. Don't trust my welding skills these days.

Plan is to free up the alignment bolts so the shop can do a good job and have no excuses.
My goal is to get it welded up and get it aligned. Hopefully this winter I'll take a trip down south and try to pick up some parts.

Thanks to all who responded and viewed this thread.
I'll post back with progress.

It's strange Nissan would do that other than maybe if they used different steel or made certain parts of the subframe "beefier". All v6s run the same rear diff, axles, sway bars, control arms, etc.

Good luck, exactly the option I would have chosen. Weld the crack for now.
