‘05 Pathfinder on youtube

Postby CRC11007 » Sat Nov 23, 2024 7:24 am

One of my favorite YouTube car builders picked up my exact vehicle as a project. I’m pretty excited to see what he finds with it!

I wonder if its a SMOD car. :|
Short of death, thats just about the only thing that could get an owner to get rid of an otherwise well maintained and running R51 4x4, LE.

For someone who doesnt do their own work and does not have parts hookups, the cost to replace the tranny would just be insurmountable given the book value of the vehicle.
And too many people, outside these forums, still dont know the relatively cheap "hack" to prevent this from happening (for those lurkers its this : put in new parts number radiator for all 2005 thru 2010s before something happens)

This is a perfect video!

highlights, to the point, where to look and what the issues are with the age of the vehicle.

There is a follow up video where he finds, and performs the fixes as well (just posted yesterday).

The frame looks excellent, though.

It's a curse and a blessing that the book value of these vehicles are crap which leaves us lots of options to pick parts from for our own. I have noticed in the last year that there has been like a 50-75% jump in interest for the R51s I think due to the value of these vehicles and people just knowing that they're built stout and reliable just like Nissans trucks. Even just in my town alone I've seen more R51s driving around now than when I picked mine up 3-4 years ago.

It depends. The paint quality on the newer trucks weren't that great and are prone to rust in the rust belt. I find it rare to see gen2 Xterras and gen3 Pathfinders on the road, but I do see more Pathfinders then Xterras. I'd also say Nissan has a reputation here of being gas gusslers and most go for more economical vehicles in general or when moving away from a Nissan truck-based SUV. However Frontiers do hold their value better in comparison. I also think the average person think they have CVT's.... MY V8 I bought from across the country. It was a SMOD truck and listed as having a new transmission, which is why it didn`t sell; people being scared it CVT failures, or it being a V8 in BC at a time their gas prices sky rocketed. My old gen1 Xterra stood out because there wasn't many around and it was also yellow. It's rare to see one today. Seeing a modified Nissan truck is generally rare, especially a Pathfinder. I think that makes me more proud of what I drive.
