When I drive the Pathfinder at highway speeds and brake medium or hard, there is a vibration in the pedal and the steering wheel starts to vibrate or shake noticeably.
Is this a problem? Is this a normal thing that the ABS does and I've never noticed before? Can this issue be fixed under warranty?
It started around 16k miles and now has 18.5k.
It's a 2007 SE-Off Road purchased in February '07.

Yep, warped rotors it is. Unfortunately, they may be considered "consumables," and therefore not covered under any portion of the factory warranty.
Just a word of caution, driving with a foot resting on the brake pedal is the most frequent cause of early rotor warping. I've got 21k on my '06, and zero braking vibration. YMMV.

yikes...
i know that i don't ride the brake when i drive it, but the wife drives it 90% of the time and i really don't wanna watch her drive.
but i'll ask her! i guess i have to set up an appt with the stealer.
I noticed it after the 15k service from the stealer... maybe i shouldn't have waited so long?
If I have to replace the rotors and pads myself, what rotors & pads would you guys recommend?
The only decent ones I've found so far were Raybestos rotors.

you can remove them yourself and take them into a machine shop for auto repair and have them turned at 13.00 a rotor. The main problem is usually over torquing the lug nuts, and or not torquing at all. I torque lugs to 105FT. Lbs, I start with 50 FT Lbs, go in a star pattern, than increase to 105 FT Lbs,, repeat..

Yes. If you tighten down to the correct specs, you're golden. HOWEVER, even more so with today's rotors, if they are over-tightened, like just zipped on with an impact gun NOT using torque sticks, you could very easily warp your rotors.you think torqing the wheels may cause the vibration?
After trial and error on my cars and trucks (and working on cars for guys that daily drive their drifters), I found that a decent quality plain old rotor and really nice pads work the best. Your Hawk or EBC (I LOVE the EBC greens!) pads with a standard, non-drilled, non-slotted rotor are GREAT for track days and last forever and are great performers on the street. I actually just replaced my Chevy Silverado with the Hawk LTS pads and generic rotors from AdvanceAuto.
More and more, I find it not even worth it to turn rotors anymore, between labor and how quickly turned rotors warp. Just recycle and buy new.
