Leaky oil pressure sensor

Postby bbutle01 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 11:58 am

Ok, I have a slow oil leak. I took it for an oil change and told them to look for where it came from. They said it's the Oil pressure sensor. Searching online, I find lots of references to them, but not an exact reference to a replacement part. It seems that the term is used interchangably with the oil pressure switch and the oil sending unit.

Anyone know which part I'm really looking for (2003 SE)

Is this just a case of drain oil, pull the old one, clean the area, wrap new with teflon tape, reinstall, new oil?

Thanks

you don't need to drain the oil. just change the switch and clean area.

Great, so I'll assume your saying that it IS the switch, not the sending unit.

Switch found cheaply here:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=939266
$11

Goodyear wants $90 to replace.
Wow

Lots of them seem available here:

Get what you pay for?
Thanks!

if is not too hard to get to. you might want to try it yourself. simply use a wrench and unscrew the oild on e a screw in the new. then plug back the electrical plug.
