WHEN DO THEY STOP RUSTING??

Postby jim911 » Wed Oct 21, 2009 3:29 pm

I had a 91 and just got rid of it. I want a newer one, maybe 95/96 and everything I look at, the frame is rusted. When did Nissan get a handle on this rust issue? :?:

I've never seen a vehicle that didn't rust. That's what you get for using cheap, unprotected steel on everything out of sight, all to save a buck. That's always been a sore point with me-how hard could it be to just include undercoatings (FOR FREE, done at the factory, not the dealer) and use stainless steel?

that's one nice thing about living here in Fresno, cars don't rust much.
the air is very dry and we have little rain, only about 11 1/2 inches a year, you see lots of well preserved old cars in california.

I guess it's the east coast thing but I've never seen any other vechicle with as much rust as the pathfinder.

Not a bad deal

The miles are high, but the motors are very strong. My advice is get the best looking pathy you can find, and assume it's going to need engine work lol

well thats my philosophy on all used cars.

It's the salt that we use, not necessarily the water. Same reason why you don't buy older vehicles from Hawaii...
