Possible to Disable Pathfinder Airbags??

Postby Simon B » Sun Feb 25, 2007 6:10 am

I was wondering if anybody knows whether its possible to disable the airbags on the Pathy for off-roading. I've spoken to my local dealer about it but they wouldn't give me an answer.

Looking in the service manuals it seems as simple as just pulling the relevant fuse (Number 13 I think) but i'm reluctant to do this without some advice in case it affects anything else.

Yea, basicly pulling the fuses will disable the system , the problem is you will probably need a scanner to reset the system once you put the fuses back in ...

You would have to pull fuses 13 and 14 ... both 10A fuses ...

Well I took out both fuses, 13 and 14 but unfortunately number 14 also controls some other things including locking the gearbox in park, so it has to be left in. Number 13 seemed to disable the airbags on its own though and the red 'airbag off' light lit up on the dashboard.

Unfortunately I managed to lose the fuse, despite putting it somewhere safe, so I don't know yet whether everything will be back to normal when I buy a replacement and fit it. I'll keep you posted
