What parts have you replaced so far?

Postby slavabon » Tue Nov 10, 2009 8:01 pm

I'm curious to know what things have broken on your Pathfinder and at what mileage it has occured? What about wear and tear items? How long did they last?
My 06 has 42K and it had the follwing parts replaced:

1. Fuel sender unit replaced per warranty at 25K
2. Original tires were pretty worn out and replaced at 32K
3. Front rotors warped and replaced along with pads at 35K. I did the rear brakes at at the same time.
4. Paint started to crack along the rain channels on the roof around 36K. I have been patching it up since then. It starts as tiny cracks and can develop into big paint chips missing overtime. Keep an eye on this.
5. Center console latch, cabin microfilter cover and windshield washer reservoir cap attachment all broke in one week around 37K. All replaced now, but still kinda odd that it happened in one week.
Everything else is good so far.

1.timing chain/tensioner and a handful of seals (under warranty)
2.rain gutter/channel in the rear (under warranty)
3.console latch (didn't bother replacing as they wouldn't cover under warranty)
4.plastic diamond molded step boards (under warranty)
5.crash zone sensor (recall item)

That's all I had replaced/repaired. Overall, great SUV, no regrets.

08 Pathfinder S 4x4

One rear splashgaurd due to running over something. Tires, wanted better than the stock tires, headlight switch (added factory fog lights), cabin filter, air filter, and of course oil and filter every 3K
Front wipers, rear wiper. Shocks will be replaced/upgraded at 40K.
Upgraded front headlight bulbs to Silverstar Ultras.

2006 Path 4x4 S model with 65000mi

-Both headlights and tail lights due to condensation in them. (right after i bought it in 2007)
-All 4 tires (miles unknown)
-Front brakes pads and turned the rotors
-Fuel gauge sensor relay around 58,000mi (twice now getting ready to take it back in for a third time)
-Front u-joint on rear drive shaft 59,000mi (covered under warrantee)
-Getting ready to replace the rear u-joint on the rear drive shaft myself. I am not paying 200 for the dealer to do it.

Of course i have also done the regular maintenance stuff, lube + oil changes, air filter.

Front u-joint (dealer replaced whole driveshaft under warranty) 20k?
Rear u-joint (dealer again replaced whole drive shaft under warranty, after having the truck for a week on it's second trip to get it fixed, a little pissed about that!) 40k?
Brakes (all four)
Tires
Serpentine belt (it gets a idler pulley arm shortly)
currently needs a blower motor resister

That's it, I think....

oh yea, add most of the clamps on the exhaust heat shields.
Rattle, buzz, rattle, drove me crazy.

Seems like u-joints seem to be a popular part to replace. What are the signs of these going bad - vibration?

I had no vibration when mine went bad. they made squeaking noises that coincide with drive shaft revolutions (at higher frequiency than wheels) that was for rear joints. the front joints just had some gap and the guy at the gaage noticed it when I want there for suspension check. other than this gap there were no major signs that they are going bad.
