AC only works on coolest setting

Postby Nighter-cdn » Sat Oct 24, 2009 7:54 pm

Hi,

2004 Pathfinder LE with digital heater / ac control unit.

About 2 months ago the AC would only work if I had the unit set to the coldest setting (18degrees). Once I turned the dial to the next setting (0.5 of a degree) it would heat up substantially (felt like 5-10 degrees). I have tried all fan speeds but that doesn't make a difference. Everything else seems to work fine.

Attempted to replace the in dash control unit and the new one had the same issue. I have read about the blower motor resistor, but this part seems to resolve issues where the fan works only on high (my fan works on all speeds).

Nissan replaced the unit under warranty two years ago for a defaulty front defroster button but they claim the replaced part expired with my warranty over a year ago.

Any suggestions ! ?

Have you checked the pressure on the refrigerant? Is the compressor running?
