Valet Key - TroubleShooting Help

Postby CiK » Mon Mar 08, 2010 4:05 pm

I know the valet key is not intended to allow somebody to get into the glove box when they are using one, but we are having trouble with ours not starting the car.

We have 3 keys total, 2 master keys and 1 valet key. The master start the car fine, but the valet key just turns the car over with no ignition.

Any thoughts on that?

Tony

Does it have the chip? Does it look like the master key? or is it all metal?

The two master keys look alike. They have a metal "Nissan" emblem. The valet key is all black and the "Nissan" emblem is black too.

AND, the two master keys have codes to them. I am not sure about the valet key.

It is probably the code on the valet key. I wish I new of a way to check the code on keys. It from what you describe the valet key that is the one I am using to drive my Pathy. The dealer charges $50 for programming a key.

I agree that it needs to be programmed, which can only be done with Consult II, so dealer may be the only option. You can reprogram remotes yourself, but they have you by the "keychain" when you're talking about the jeys themselves.
